Fantasy Football Potential – Marc Navarro

Watford have made the signing of Espanyol defender Marc Navarro for a fee in the region of €2 million. The versatile defender can play centre back, but has mainly played as a right back for Espanyol.

The former Barcelona youth player spent nine years with the Spanish giants before joining Espanyol in 2011 and going on to make 75 league appearances for the both the first team and B team. Watford agreed a five year deal with Navarro suggesting he will be one for the future.

The Hornets’ Chairman & CEO Scott Duxbury has said:

“Marc has attracted interest from a host of top European clubs, therefore we are delighted to have secured his services”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (4.5m)

Navarro has been priced at £4.5m, which is what is expected for a defender from a side like Watford. His scoring record from the back is great, scoring 10 goals in the 75 matches he played in Spain.

Navarro will likely be deployed as a centre half as Watford already have Kiko Femenia and Daryl Janmaat covering the right wing back position. Navarro stands at 6ft 3 so he will definitely be a danger from set pieces which means he has a good chance of bringing attacking returns.

Watford’s first five fixtures are as follows: Brighton (H), Burnley (A), Crystal Palace (H), Tottenham (H) and Manchester United (H). Four out of five of the games are at Vicarage Road meaning Navarro will be familiarised with Watford nice and quickly and help settle in.
