Fantasy Football Potential – Ricardo Pereira

Leicester City have signed highly rated Portuguese right back Ricardo Pereira from Porto for a fee believed to be around €25 million. Pereira played a small part in Portugal’s World Cup campaign, playing the 90 minutes in their round of 16 defeat to Uruguay.

He has 5 caps for Portugal at senior level and on top of that he has 35 games under his belt, scoring 12 goals as he played further forward. Pereira played under Leicester manager Claude Puel at Nice, where he had a season long loan in 2016/17 campaign. scoring just twice.

Speaking to LCFC TV, Ricardo said:

“I feel very happy to be here and I can’t wait to do my best to help the team. The atmosphere, the fans and the football of the Premier League makes it the best in the world. I am here to support the team and to help the Club to achieve its goals.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (5.0m)

Pereira has been priced at £5.0m which is a fair price for the Leicester defender. It makes him cheaper than Harry Maguire, but more expensive than Christian Fuchs. At Porto last season, Pereira scored twice and set up a further seven in 43 games which includes seven Champions League fixtures.

Interestingly, Pereira played 10 fixtures last season in the right midfield position, so if Leicester find themselves chasing a game or struggling to cut open a defence, then Pereira may be pushed further forward which would be music to the ears for his Fantasy Premier League owners.

Leicester’s first five fixtures are as follows: Manchester United (A), Wolves (H), Southampton (A), Liverpool (H) and Bournemouth (A). This is a tough set of matches for Leicester but they get a lot easier in the weeks after so Pereira could become a good option then.
