Fantasy Football Potential – Willy Boly

Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed Porto defender Willy Boly for a fee in the region of £11 million. The Frenchman joins Wolves after a successful loan spell with the club that saw him play 36 Championship matches.

He has spent most of his career in France playing in the second division for Auxerre before his move to Portuguese side Braga. Whilst with Braga he played 12 Europa League games and when he moved to Porto he featured in the Champions League. Internationally he has second caps for France at various youth levels.

Speaking ahead of the new season, Boly said:

“For me every season is good for me to play because I love football, last season was amazing as well when I came here. This is season is the same. I’m enjoying myself and looking forward to the challenge ahead. We’re looking forward to the season. It’s game after game, we are preparing like usual.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (4.5n)

Boly will seemingly start for Wolves in the centre back position and at the price of £4.5m, could proved to be good value for money. Wolves are tipped for a top half finish, despite bung newly promoted, and if they continue to splash the cash, there is no reason why they can’t achieve that or higher.

Nobody really knows how Wolves will adapt to the Premier League so I wouldn’t select a defender from the club as of yet. What will help Boly get more clean sheets is the fact they have one of the best goalkeepers in the world with Rui Patricio.

Wolves’ first five fixtures are as follows: Everton (H), Leicester (A), Manchester City (H), West Ham (A) and Burnley (H). It is a reasonable start for Wolves and Boly could be able to grab a couple of clean sheets from this run of matches.
