Kyle Scott – Fantasy Football Potential

Newcastle United have signed 21 year old midfielder, Kyle Scott, on a free transfer after his contract at Chelsea had expired. Scott had made just one senior appearance for the Blues in a FA Cup tie against Hull, but will now look to achieve a spot in the Newcastle senior squad.

Here’s what Scott has told nufc.co.uk about his move:

“Looking at the opportunity here, it’s even greater than at clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City. Newcastle is a massive club with massive history, and for young kids they get that opportunity – obviously you see with Longstaff, he did it last year – so it’s a good opportunity for me.”

Player History

Scott started his career at Chelsea at the age of 10, joining in 2007 and he went on to make his debut for the under-18’s in August 2013. In 2016, Scott was frustrated with the lack of first team opportunities in the Chelsea squad and had a trial at Willem II which was unsuccessful, however in the 2017/18 campaign he was promoted to the senior side.

In July 2018, Scott joined Telstar on a season long loan deal, where he played 14 games for the Dutch second division side. During this time he managed to score two goals for the side in 997 minutes played.

Internationally, Scott has played for 3 youth teams, being; England under-16’s, Republic of Ireland under-17’s and United States under-18’s and under-20’s, whilst he is also eligible to play for Italy!

Fantasy Football Potential

Scott will be joining up the Newcastle under-23’s at the start of this season, but is keen to emulate the rise through the youth team of Sean Longstaff. With him being highly unlikely to join up with the senior side this season, there could also be the opportunity to go out on loan this season, but nevertheless he will be one for the future for The Magpies.
