Captaincy Analysis – FPL Gameweek 14 Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 14 is nearly upon us and so is the busy Christmas fixture schedule, where team and captaincy selections are more important than ever. That said, before we look at gameweek 14’s captaincy analysis, here is how last week’s selections did:

1. Mohamed Salah – 8 points
2. Sergio Aguero – 2 points
3. Richarlison – 3 points
Differential – Anthony Martial – 3 points
Gamble – Harry Kane – 6 points

Now onto this week’s selections:

1. Raheem Sterling (BOU)

Opting for Aguero as your captain seems logical in every aspect, however considering that Sterling is in blazing form at the moment, I’ve chosen him to represent Man City in this week’s captaincy article. Both Aguero and Sterling have identical goals/assists ratio, both contributing 14 goals each this season (Aguero 7 goals, 7 assists, Sterling with 8 goals, 6 assists) and Aguero has only played 18 minutes more than his English teammate. However, Sterling has 3 goals and 4 assists in his last three games, which is a terrific record for a winger to muster. Sterling is only owned by 13% too, an added bonus!

2. Eden Hazard (FUL)

I wouldn’t have included Hazard in the article if he wasn’t playing the worst team in the league (Sorry Fulham fans!). They are still waiting for that clean sheet to arrive, after conceding 33 goals in the 13 games in the league this season, a shocking record and by far the most conceded by a club in the Premier League! I personally don’t believe that Hazard has got back to full fitness after his back injury. I think he may have been rushed back too soon, which is why he’s struggled to make an impact against Everton and Spurs in recent weeks. However, he’ll have a rest this week and has the chance to get back to goal-scoring ways this weekend, and what better team to play than Fulham to get back into form!

3. Mohamed Salah (EVE)

Pains me to say that as an Everton fan. However, we could have Ramos and a prime Maldini at the back, and we’d still get beat 4-0 by them. The last win Everton got at Anfield was in 1999, and to give you an example of how long ago that was, Wimbledon were still a club, Leeds finished 4th and the author of this article was only 2 years old. Salah scored a great goal last season, which won the Puskas award for 2017. I know, I’m still asking myself how that won as well. In the last 4 games at Anfield, Liverpool have managed 90 shots against Everton. They’ve been in good form as of late, but a Salah goal is inevitable against the blues, especially with him just starting to come into form recently too.

Differential – Anthony Martial (SOU)

He featured as the differential last week and blanked, mainly due to the fact that he was completely marked out of the game by one of my favourite defenders in the league, Wan-Bissaka. Honestly, he’s absolutely fantastic, amazing how he’s only 21. United take on Southampton this week who have struggled defensively all season, and ignoring that blip against Palace, Martial has scored in every single match in the last 5 games, a terrific record for the Frenchman, and is still only owned by 13%!

Gamble – Harry Kane (ARS)

Another player in good form is the “Three-Season Wonder”; Harry Kane. He’s produced a goal or assist in the last 3 matches, and was unlucky not to get more when they completely annihilated Chelsea last weekend. They take on Arsenal in the North London derby this week, which will be a tough task for Kane and co, considering how good Arsenal have been in the last few months.
