Captaincy Analysis – FPL Gameweek 21 Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Happy New Year all, gameweek 20 is fast upon us. before we delve into this weeks captaincy tips, here’s how last weeks picks did:

1. Harry Kane – 6 points
2. Paul Pogba – 18 points
3. Richarlison – 2 points
Differential – Kevin De Bruyne – 0 points
Gamble – Mo Salah – 12 points

Now onto this week’s selections:

1. Harry Kane (CAR)

Well no one predicted that result for Spurs! Looking at it, the result may not have been surprising, as Spurs have had the least amount of rest (except for Everton). Kane has now had a return in the last 7 starts, scoring 7 goals and assisting twice in that time, and with Spurs needing to win to stay in the title race, Kane will have to be on his A Game against Cardiff, especially with Man City playing Liverpool on the same day!

2. Paul Pogba (NEW)

4 goals and 4 assists in his last 3 games, you cannot doubt that Pogba is back to his best, almost as if he was holding back when Mourinho was managing Man United. They take on Newcastle next, who have failed to keep a clean sheet against any team in the top half of the table. In the reverse fixture, Pogba managed a goal and assist so can he replicate that in the next game? He’s been in terrific form and is acting as a differential, as despite being owned by 20%, almost half of those are ghost-ships! Man United were one of 4 teams to score more than one goal in the last gameweek too, empathising that Pogba could now be considered a must own.

3. Eden Hazard (SOU)

Being honest, the number three slot for this week was ridiculously hard to pick, because absolutely no one was in form from the last gameweek. Only 4 teams scored more than 1 goal, and the teams who mustered a goal were ‘one-off’ goal scorers, like Locadia, Camarasa and Hojbjerg for example. Despite blanking, I’ve gone for Hazard, who made 90 touches in the previous game and has scored 3 goals and assisted 5 times in the last 7 games. Chelsea take on Southampton at home, who are struggling at the back, and could see Hazard get on the scoresheet with the Saints being so poor as of late (their last clean sheet came 10 weeks ago!)

Differential – Dominic Calvert-Lewin (LEI)

Before you question me about DCL, I genuinely couldn’t think of any other differential. Mitrovic? 18%. Vardy? Taken off early. There is no one else to choose, honestly. So DCL takes the slot, and with good reason too. Scoring one and assisting 2 in Everton’s last 4 games is a good record considering he was rested last week. I’d imagine he’ll be starting against Leicester, so why not take a punt on the young Englishman?

Gamble – Mo Salah (MCI)

Salah, a gamble, just looks strange! He’s been in terrific form as of late, and genuinely looks frightening every time he gets on the ball. Liverpool take on Man City at the Etihad in what is arguably one of Liverpool’s most important games in the Premier League for many years. A win extends their lead to 10 points over City, and City have only kept one clean sheet in their last ten. This one is too hard to predict, so I’d suggest staying away from Salah!
