Captaincy Analysis – FPL Gameweek 23 Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Last week turned out to be a difficult one to predict for most fantasy managers and our captaincy analysis reflected that:

1. Sergio Aguero – 1 point
2. Eden Hazard – 5 points
3. Mo Salah – 11 points
Differential – Jamie Vardy – 2 points
Gamble – Harry Kane – 2 points

Now onto this week’s picks:

1. Marcus Rashford (BHA)

Didn’t think I’d see the day that a Man United attacker would be the number one pick, but all these players are either being inspired by Solksjaer, or they really despised Mourinho, and his tactics! They’ve won every game under Ole, and look really good on the attack, something you wouldn’t have associated with United just a few weeks ago. He’s clearly showed everyone why he deserves to be the number one striker over Lukaku, and if he keeps up his form, he could prove to be a decent option for captaincy! He’s scored 4 times and assisted twice under the new manager. Can he add to that tally?

2. Mo Salah (CRY)

Plenty of Liverpool players getting injured lately, except for Mr Reliable of course. Pundits and fans are starting to question his ‘dives’ in the last few weeks, considering that most of his goals and assists lately have been from the spot. Doesn’t matter how they go in, as long as it ends up in the back of the net from Salah’s shot, does anyone care?! They take on Crystal Palace at home this week, who are missing Guaita in goal, and could see the return of Speroni, which could see Salah getting on the scoresheet a few times next week…

3. Christian Eriksen

He was originally the differential option, as he’s only owned by 7% of FPL managers, but an injury to Kane and Son leaving for the Asian Cup may have a positive effect on Eriksen. He may be pushed further forward, possibly in a false nine role, and they’ll need him more than ever with their main man out until March. It’s likely that he’ll be on all set pieces, free-kicks, penalties etc, something that Kane always took off him. He’s only blanked twice since GW13 too, so definitely one to consider!

Differential – Ademola Lookman

*Just a little side note, Fernando Llorente may start, owned by 0.5%, priced at £5.6m, if you wanted a bargain!*

Everton fans will tell you that they’ve been eagerly awaiting his starts for months, and when it finally happened, he impressed many, assisting Calvert-Lewin’s goal and getting man of the match. He’s the ultimate differential, as he’s only owned by 0.1% (5,177 FPL managers to be exact). They take on Southampton away this week, and if he continues to play well, he could score his first goal this season. Toss up between Llorente and Lookman, both really decent options if you’re feeling risky!

Gamble – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Or Eden Hazard if you fancy, as Arsenal take on Chelsea this week at the Emirates. I feel like these games are difficult to predict, mainly because Chelsea’s attack is ridiculously poor, Hazard aside, while Arsenal’s defence is also bad, so who knows how this will go. Aubameyang had a quiet game last time out against West Ham, but he’s still the top scorer, and has proven how clinical he is time and time again this season. However, Chelsea have kept the second most amount of clean sheets, so this will be tough for Aubameyang!
