Captaincy Analysis – FPL Gameweek 31 Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

A lot of teams blank this week, making that captaincy selection even tougher, but before we look at this week’s captaincy analysis, here’s how last week’s picks did:

1. Mohamed Salah – 5 points
2.
Sergio Aguero – 5 points
3.
Wilfried Zaha – 2 points
Differential –  Romelu Lukaku – 2 points
Gamble – Harry Kane – 8 points

Now onto this week’s selections:

1. Saido Mane (FUL)

Think this is a first for me this season – Picking a Liverpool player other than Mohamed Salah! I did believe his form would turn, however, I think with Mane exploding into unbelievable form, then it’s a no brainier to captain Mane over Salah. He’s scored 10 goals in his last 10 competitive games, compared to Salah’s measly one in the same time. Mane is also owned by 15% fewer FPL managers, and in a gameweek where very few quality players play, you’d be a fool if you didn’t consider Mane!

2. Callum Wilson (NEW)

Wilson’s first game back since his return from injury, and he scores and assists in a 2-0 win. Technically, he’s actually got 3 goals in 3 games, spread out over two months however! His return comes at a great time, as not many players play this week due to the blanks, and Wilson currently averages a goal/assist in every game, being involved in 20 (!) goals in 1,800 minutes! That’s a terrific record that has seemingly gone unnoticed and is a viable option for captaincy, owned by only 15%, much less than Salah’s and Mane’s.

Differential – Jamie Vardy (BUR)

I’m bending the rules in two ways here – a) – Vardy is owned by 10.1% at the moment, but in a blank gameweek, I’m willing to consider him a differential, and b), there’s only 2 options for captaincy, but I thought having 5 players in a blank gameweek was too much! Vardy has been in terrific form since Brendan Rodgers took over, scoring 5 goals in 5 games. All three players have been in terrific form recently, so this week actually may be tougher for a solid captaincy choice!

Gamble – Eden Hazard (EVE)

A player not in good form, however, is Eden Hazard. He’s scored 2 and assisted 2 in the last 11 league games, disappointing for a man priced so highly. Chelsea need to win these sorts of games to try and get a place in the Champions League, however, the last 5 meetings with Everton have seen Hazard blank, and with the other players in terrific form, I think it’s a huge gamble to captain Hazard in a blank gameweek.
