Captaincy Analysis – Gameweek 18 FPL Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 18 was another tricky FPL week for many fantasy managers as the likes of Kane, Sanchez, Costa and co failed to hit those high points! Last week’s captaincy analysis picked out Zlatan, who was one of the biggest point scorers of the week and many will look to bring the Swede in this week.

Before we look at this week’s captaincy selections, here’s how last week’s captaincy analysis did:

1. Harry Kane – 2 points
2. Diego Costa – 6 points
3. Zlatan Ibrahimovic – 12 points
Differential – Dimitri Payet – 3 points
Gamble – Alexis Sanchez – 5 points

Now onto this week’s picks:

1. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (SUN)

Been a while since he came in at number one, however a home game to Sunderland is bound to see goals, especially by from the Swedish striker. 7 goals in 6 games for him, he’s been on fire recently and I can’t see it ending, especially as Sunderland have been leaking goals all season. Definitely one to consider for the Boxing Day fixture! If you don’t own him, I’d be really worried as it could be a goal fest at Old Trafford!

2. Alexis Sanchez (WBA)

The only player who seems to have not given up at Arsenal, Sanchez is still performing well even during a difficult time for the Gooners. With 6 goals and 3 assists in 5 games, any goal that Arsenal score will most likely be influenced by Alexis, and Arsenal surely will want to put a decent shift in to maintain their league position and not slip further away from Chelsea.

3. Sadio Mane (STK)

Unfortunately for me (Everton fan), he scored a last minute winner in the Merseyside Derby, taking his goal tally to 8 goals which is fantastic for a midfielder at this stage of the season, not forgetting his 6 assists as well for Liverpool. He’s been in fantastic form all season, and is second in the goals + assists table. A home game to Stoke is ideal for Mane, and he will look to add to this fantastic record!

Differential – Jay Rodriguez (TOT)

For the first time in a long time, Rodriguez was played up front for Southampton and he didn’t disappoint, scoring a brace against Bournemouth at the weekend. With Austin out for a while, it’s likely Jay Rod will continue to play striker, and with such a low ownership, he could be a fantastic captaincy choice! He’s proven to us that he’s got it in his locker when he scored 15 before his horrific injury, so he might just get back into his stride!

Gamble – Cesar Azpilicueta (BOU)

Am I mad? Insane? A defender as a captain? Unheard of! However, Chelsea have kept 8 clean sheets in 10, and Azpil has managed 29 points in 3 weeks, better than most attackers in FPL! Massive gamble as one goal could mean he ends the gameweek with 2 points, but if you’re feeling risky, go for it! A home game to Sunderland shouldn’t be too big of a risk for Chelsea as well!
