FPL Captaincy Analysis – Gameweek 29 Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

With just 10 gameweeks left in this FPL season, now is the time to be getting those captaincy selections correct. Before we look at this weekend’s fixtures, here’s how last week’s FPL Captaincy Analysis did:

1. Harry Kane – 6 points
2. Mohamed Salah – 10 points
3. Jamie Vardy – 2 points
Differential – Gylfi Sigurdsson – 2 points
Gamble – Sergio Aguero – 5 points

Now onto this week’s picks…

1. Harry Kane (HUD)

Considering how many he possibly *should* have scored, Kane captainers’ in previous weeks will be left frustrated, however it doesn’t take away the fact that Kane has scored 6 goals in the last 6 games, and 12 goals in the past 9 games. He had a rest midweek as he sat out of the replay game against Rochdale, and should be fully fit for their game against Huddersfield at home, which on paper, should be a comfortable game for Spurs and could see Kane improve his recent goal scoring tally.

2. Mohamed Salah (NEW)

Goals, assists, rave, repeat. He’s absolutely phenomenal, and was by far one of the best signings of the summer. 2 blanks since gameweek 8, 4 goals and 2 assists in only 4 games, you can’t ask for any more. He’s owned by 60% of players now and this week, Liverpool take on Newcastle at home, so he’s in a similar position to Kane; a relatively easy game for the Egyptian. He also could have scored more last weekend, hitting the post and missing a huge chance in the first half. If Salah scored the more clear-cut chances, he’d be on for 30 goals!

3. Romelu Lukaku (CRY)

Lukaku has come under a lot of scrutiny this season, however looking at the stats, he doesn’t seem to have been *that* bad. He’s scored 13 goals and assisted 6 times, including 2 goals and an assist in the past 3 games. Man United take on Crystal Palace this week, and they will be desperate to win the game to extend their lead at second place. Considering Lukaku’s form, he may well be worth a punt for captaincy this week, especially if you’re trying to catch everyone up in the mini leagues!

Differential – Riyad Mahrez (BOU)

Prior to the Mahrez debacle in the January window, Mahrez was in fantastic form, scoring 3 and assisting 3 in the past 6 games. He failed to improve this in the last game against Stoke, however he had the most chances, most set pieces and the most touches for Leicester, meaning that he was getting the chances and was receiving a lot of the ball, but just failed to do anything with those chances last week. This week, Leicester take on Bournemouth, who have only kept 1 clean sheet since gameweek 14, so Mahrez will have the chance to exploit that weak Cherries defence.

Gamble – Sergio Aguero (CHE)

Despite scoring in the cup match, and assisting in the league match against Arsenal, I’m listing him as a gamble, as Gabriel Jesus is back playing for Man City. Jesus is likely to start the match as Aguero has started and played 90 minutes in the last week. I’d be very surprised if Jesus doesn’t start, or at the very least doesn’t play for at least 30 minutes of the match, which, will limit the minutes for Aguero. In addition to this, Man City take on Chelsea, who will be determined to get a point, or more, to try and regain their place in the top 4.
