FPL Captaincy Analysis – Gameweek 3 Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Welcome to our captaincy analysis for the upcoming gameweek 3! Before we take a look at this weekend’s FPL captaincy selections, here’s how last week’s picks did:

1. Alexandre Lacazette – 2 points
2. Mohamed Salah – 1 point
3. Romelu Lukaku – 6 points
Differential – Harry Kane – 1 point
Gamble – Jamie Vardy – 2 points

So not the best returns, but now let’s move onto this week’s selections:

1. Harry Kane (BUR)

2 games in and Harry Kane looks like continuing his record of deciding the season starts in September and this has led many managers to dump the Spurs striker in favour of hot prospects such as Lukaku or Aguero. I’d however urge Kane owners to keep the faith for at least one more week. Spurs should find some joy against Burnley who were unable to follow up their remarkable opening day victory over Chelsea and fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to West Brom. Kane may not be popular with managers right now, but he definitely should be considered.

2. Kevin De Bruyne (BOU)

The Belgian has not brought in many FPL points this season, but from watching Manchester City you can see how instrumental De Bruyne is and as a result a big haul is surely due. City struggled against Everton and were unfortunate to lose a man, but still battled to take a point. Bournemouth have not impressed thus far and this tells me City could run riot. Of course Aguero should be considered but for me, the Belgian is more involved in City’s play.

3. Romelu Lukaku (LEI)

The league’s top scorer at this early stage and has made the transition into the United team seamlessly. I think the win over Swansea showed us what we can expect from Lukaku. While United dominated build up, Lukaku was rarely involved in that play but will always pop up with a goal at the end of a move. As an Everton fan, I’ve seen how frustrating Lukaku can be, but he is one incredible finisher and will get north of 25 goals before May. Leicester have started well but as shown in gameweek one, they do look likely to concede when faced with an attack with the quality of United’s. Lukaku will be a popular choice this week and you can certainly see why.

Differential – Manolo Gabbiadini (HUD)

The Italian got his first goal in his side’s win over West Ham. While Huddersfield have raised eyebrows with 2 victories in 2 games, surely not even the most optimistic Terriers fan would envisage that record continuing. Huddersfield host the Saints this weekend and will look to make it difficult for Pellegrino’s side. If your looking for a captain with lower ownership then Gabbiadini is certainly worth bearing in mind.

Gamble – Wayne Rooney (CHE)

The new Everton striker has enjoyed an incredible start to his homecoming with an opening day winner over Stoke followed by a goal over City, earning Everton a point. Normally if you have a striker with 2 in 2, you’d expect him to be a more obvious choice for captaincy, but you have to bear in mind Everton have to travel to Croatia to face Hadjuk Split on Thursday before traveling to Chelsea on Sunday. As the name suggests it is a gamble if you captain Rooney but if you believe he can continue his form, why not take that risk?

That’s just about it from me, have a good week and good luck with gameweek 3!
