Gameweek 3 Captaincy Analysis – Fantasy Football Tips

Last week our top captaincy selections scored an average of 7 points, not quite the 15 point average from gameweek 1, but very good nevertheless! Here’s how last weeks picks did:

1. Mohamed Salah – 3 points
2. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 6 points
3. Richarlison – 3 points
Differential – Teemu Pukki – 17 points
Gamble – Raheem Sterling – 6 points

Fingers cossed for more the same this week, here’s our top picks for gameweek 3:

1. Harry Kane (NEW)

He’s started off the season a little bit slowly, but any regular players of FPL will know that this is a typical Kane start, August has never been his month! He did score 2 in his first game but was largely missing for most of the game, and was completely invisible against Man City, however I think he’ll bounce back against Newcastle this week. They’ve started off poorly and I think if Pukki could get a hat trick, I think Kane could do also. Spurs started the season off well though, and will look to add 3 points, especially with Arsenal and Liverpool playing each other!

2. Raheem Sterling (BOU)

A player who has started off well is Raheem Sterling, who’s already got 4 goals in the first 2 games, making him joint top scorer so far. He’s one of the most popular players in FPL and will most likely be the most popular captaincy pick, so I’d advise him if you’re looking to hold onto your rank! They take on Bournemouth this week who have always looked a bit shaky at the back under Eddie Howe, and I think that these are the sort of teams that Man City, and particularly Sterling, can really punish, and I think Sterling will add to his goal tally come Sunday.

3. Teemu Pukki (CHE)

What a start to the new season for this man! 4 goals in 2 games was a dream for Pukki and, if truth be told, I’ve been really impressed by how Norwich have started. They were good against Liverpool and I felt the 4-1 scoreline was really harsh, but bounced back brilliantly with a win to Newcastle with this man grabbing a hat trick, to the delight of the 3% of FPL managers who owned him, me included! They take on Chelsea at home this week, and I predict a huge shock this week. I think Norwich might surprise a few and get a result from this, and with Pukki hot in form, he could be a great captaincy option for GW3!

Differential – Bernard (AVL)

Being honest, I desperately wanted this to be Lucas Digne, but with him being a doubt for the game, I won’t advise anyone to be ballsy and captain him, despite his being in fine form. Instead, I’ll recommend his left sided Everton partner, Bernard, who was magnificent against Watford, grabbing a goal but putting in a fine performance. He’s only owned by 1% of FPL managers, and with most turning to Richarlison and Sigurdsson, who have both started off quite portly, this could be a great differential pick.

Gamble – Mohamed Salah (ARS)

I want to say that Salah has also started off the season quite portly, but that’d be really harsh considering that they’ve won 2 out of 2, and he’s also scored one. But we’ve all largely been disappointed with Salah’s start, hence why he’s the gamble option for this week. They also take on Arsenal who are the only other team to have won both games so far this season, so will be a tricky test for Salah and co. This game has usually seen several goals in it in the past few seasons and I’m hoping for the same but with Salah getting in amongst the action!

That was our analysis of some of the key captaincy options, I hope you enjoyed it. Best of luck this week folks!
