Gameweek 36 Captaincy Analysis

Gameweek 36 is fast approaching, and we are well and truly into the home stretch of the season meaning it is the last chance for players to take the glory in mini leagues or achieve those high overall ranks you’ve been targeting. It is crucial that the captaincy picks are correct. Before we look at this week’s picks, lets have a brief look at last week’s picks, which saw the usual big hitters perform unusually below par. Here is how they did:

1. Eden Hazard – 6 points

2. Olivier Giroud – 2 points

3. Wayne Rooney – 2 points

Differential – Jamie Vardy – 2 points

Gamble – Kevin Mirallas – 2 points

Now moving straight on let’s examine this weeks picks:

1. Sergio Aguero (QPR)

Sergio Aguero’s form has seen a revival of late; scoring 30 points over the last 3 gameweeks. This week Manchester City entertain QPR who in all honesty are relegated which should result in a comfortable win for City. Some decided to transfer Aguero out after a few weeks of poor form but I suspect those managers will be rushing to bring the City forward back in and even consider giving him the armband. The standout captaincy pick this week.

2. Harry Kane (STK)

Harry Kane has stuttered of late however many can see a game against a Stoke side who like many others look like they’re already on the beach as the perfect opportunity to keep up the chase for the golden boot. Harry Kane is a slightly risky pick however I see him returning a decent amount of points.

3. Alexis Sanchez (SWA)

Alexis Sanchez scored twice at the KC stadium on Monday night and by all accounts has had a great first season in England as well as being the 2nd highest scoring midfielder. Arsenal are at home to Swansea who aren’t playing badly however Arsenal have arguably been the best team in the league in 2015 so Arsenal and in particular Sanchez should do well at the Emirates on Monday night. It is not difficult to see why the Chilean is in so many managers plans for the last few weeks of the season.

Differential – Christian Benteke (WHU)

Benteke has been great lately and his form looks like keeping Aston Villa up. The Belgian striker has 117 Points with 23 coming in his last 3 games. This should mean Benteke is a popular selection for managers this week, and the case is made more tempting as Villa face West Ham at home who don’t have much to play for. A strong differential this week.

Gamble – Eden Hazard (LIV)

Hazard has been the best player in the league this season without doubt so I’m sure you’re wondering why he is only our gamble this week, and it is because Chelsea have wrapped up the league which historically has allowed managers to experiment and play weaker teams. Also, Liverpool are a decent outfit and will not roll over but after all Eden Hazard is FPL gold so should never be disregarded.

I hope you’ve enjoyed our article and make the right choice for your captaincy. Good luck!
