Gameweek 8 Captaincy Analysis – Fantasy Football Tips

Another gameweek has passed and we are now looking towards gameweek 8 and specifically who to captain… But before we look at this weeks picks, here’s how last weeks picks did:

1. Mohamed Salah – 9 points
2. Kevin De Bruyne – 2 points
3. Tammy Abraham– 2 points
Differential – James Maddison – 5 points
Gamble – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 9 points

Fingers crossed for better returns this week, here’s our top picks for gameweek 6:

1.  Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (BOU)

Would you believe he’s yet to blank so far this season! He’s scored 7 goals and assisted once and has been in brilliant form for Arsenal, and is still only owned by less than 25%! He’s overlooked by most FPL managers however the ones who own him are quietly reaping the rewards, and I don’t expect his form to end this week, as Arsenal face a Bournemouth side who have yet to keep a clean sheet so far this season. Considering how good Aubemeyang has been, you have to surely consider him this week.

2. Tammy Abraham (SOU)

I’ll be honest, Abraham has surprised me this season because I didn’t expect him to start the season off so well for Chelsea. He’s had similar stats to Aubameyang, however has one less assist but has played a lot less minutes, impressive considering that he didn’t start for 3 games! Chelsea take on Southampton this week, a tough side to face in my opinion, however Abraham has been in brilliant form, even scoring in the Champions League in the week against Lille. He’ll be a very popular option for captaincy this week, as he’s owned by 40% now too.

3. Son Heung-Min (BHA)

There’s an age old saying in FPL, telling you not to captain a player in the early game. However I think it’s best ignoring that for Son, as despite being the early kick off on Saturday, I think he’ll do well against Brighton. Firstly, despite missing the first two games through suspension, he’s yet to blank in a game, scoring two and assisting three times, even scoring in the midweek Champions League game against Bayern. He’s only owned by 10%, a very low number for a player of his quality! He’s gone under the radar this season because of his early suspension, but he’s been in brilliant form, and I’d definitely recommend him for captaincy this week!

Differential – John McGinn (NOR)

He just barely passed as a differential, as amazingly he’s owned by 9.9%, although I do expect that number to increase by the time this gameweek starts! His stats are impressive for a player like him, attempting the most shots on goal, beating the likes of Aubameyang, Kane and Abraham etc. He’s played every minute so far and is easily Villa’s best player, scoring three times and assisting once so far. They take on Norwich who have struggled defensively since their win against Man City, in fact they’ve only kept one clean sheet all season. It’s a huge gamble, but one definitely considering due to how good McGinn has been this season.

Gamble – Mohamed Salah (LEI)

It might surprise you to see Salah as a gamble, however there’s a reason behind it, I think it’ll be the week where Liverpool fail to win. Controversial! But I think Leicester might take something away from them this year – I’ve been really impressed with how they’ve played so far this season. Liverpool have been good but have conceded a lot more goals than Klopp would have liked, even conceding three in the midweek game to Salzburg! Leicester have been in great form, hence why Salah is considered a gamble this week! That was our analysis of some of the key captaincy options, I hope you enjoyed it. Best of luck this week folks!
