Gameweek 9 Captaincy Analysis – Fantasy Football Tips

The International Break is nearly over and we are now looking back towards Premier League football. With gameweek 9 on the horizon, one important question is who should be given the armband?… But before we look at this weeks picks, here’s how last weeks picks did:

1. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 2 points
2. Tammy Abraham – 8 points
3. Son Heung-Min – 2 points
Differential – John McGinn – 1 points
Gamble – Mohamed Salah – 2 points

Fingers crossed for better returns this week, here’s our top picks for the up coming gameweek:

1. Tammy Abraham (NEW)

His goal just before the International Break took his tally to 8 for the season, the highest of any player so far, impressive considering he didn’t play much during the first two game weeks! He was unlucky not to score more neither against Southampton, however he and Chelsea have been in brilliant form whenever they attack, and i can only see that continuing with a home game to Newcastle coming up next. Newcastle did keep a clean sheet to Manchester United last gameweek, but I can’t see them keeping back to back clean sheets with Abraham in such good form!

2. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (SHU)

It feels like a case of deja vu, because I keep saying it on Twitter, but how is Aubameyang only owned by 25% of FPL managers!? He’s scored 7 goals and assisted once, and has never blanked more than three gameweek’s in a row in the Premier League, an amazing record for someone new to the league! And yet, despite this, his ownership is still a lot lower than what it probably should be! This is better for those who own him, less managers reaping the rewards means more green arrows, and I can see him doing well against Sheffield United, especially with Lacazette back now too.

3. Heung-Min Son (WAT)

Not sure many people expected Spurs to lose to Brighton, but to be honest, they were absolutely awful. Son has been Spurs best player in my opinion this season, but even he was really poor, and I’ll admit it, I captained him! Huge mistake but on paper it seemed sensible, and I still am considering captaining him, even despite a blank. They play Watford who have been awful so far this season, and they’ll be wanting to bounce back after that shock loss. Kane had a brilliant game for England too, so let’s hope Son is better than last week!

Differential – Wesley Moraes (BHA)

I still can’t make my mind up on Wesley. I wanted to sign him, but opted for Joelinton instead, arguably one of the worst transfers I’ve ever done in FPL looking back to it now. He’s scored 4 tines and assisted twice, could have been more but he’s missed some relatively easy chances, not to mention his penalty miss last week too. He’s only owned by 2%, and is probably the best cheap striker at the moment. Villa were brilliant against Norwich last gameweek, and if they take that form into their game against Brighton, I think Wesley could be a brilliant differential option.

Gamble – Kevin De Bruyne (LIV)

Like with the Spurs loss, I don’t think anyone was expecting Manchester City to lose again this season to a Wolves side that have struggled so much all season! De Bruyne didn’t feature in the game as he was injured, and I’m still unsure whether or not he’ll be fully fit to play Crystal Palace, but if he is, I think they could respond like they did a few weeks ago against Watford, scoring 8. Palace are good, but at home they seem to struggle defensively, and if De Bruyne does play, I can’t think of many sides that could stop a fully fit De Bruyne, especially after this start to the season, assisting 9 already!
