FPL Updates Gameweek 36 – Fantasy Premier League Tips

100 up for the first time this season. It’s also the best gameweek rank of the season, inside the top 100k. 109 points with 24 off the bench from the bench boost. Somehow I managed to captain our lowest scoring player which meant we didn’t see a huge rank jump, but nonetheless were up to 28k from 44k.

With only 3 GWs to go, a top 10k finish would be ideal but a sensible aim should be the top 20k. The final chip of the season, triple captain is going to be played this week.

The defence did us proud this week. Apart from Bednarek 2 and Foster who scored 5 without a clean sheet, the rest all kept clean sheets. As I previously said, I was hoping for 4 points from the Brighton boys and they proved me wrong. 20 points from the two as Ryan picked up saves and bonus. They were so close to two but conceded late in the spurs game. Doherty is back after a long spell of blanks. A goal and a clean sheet in his two games was great. Laporte is the DGW king. A whopping 15 pointer with 2 clean sheets and maximum bonus against Man Utd and Spurs. Finally our only SGW defender TAA bagged an 11 pointer with an assist, clean sheet and a couple of bonus points. 66 points from the backline!

Son, Mané and disappointingly the captain KDB all blanked. An injury forced De Bruyne off after 37 minutes and that was that for his DGW. It sums up our captaincy picks over the last few weeks. Eriksen got a goal in his two games but looked complacent at times. Jota picked up a goal against Arsenal and got the 5th double digit haul of the week.

Aguero was the only striker to get an attacking return with an assist for 7 points. Surprisingly, Jimenez blanked in both games even during a 3-1 win against Arsenal. Wilson in typical Wilson fashion blanked at home to Fulham.

Transfers: KDB/Eriksen -> Salah/Elliot -4. This injury scuppered some plans, so I’ve decided to go back to Salah and some bench fodder. A £4.0m midfielder (which I’ve never seen before) gives us £2.0m ITB for the final two weeks. It was hard to part with Eriksen but I expect a rest either this or the following week, with Champions League being a priority.

Ryan gets the nod over Foster against Newcastle. Laporte travels to Burnley and they’ll look to frustrate City going forward, so a clean sheet looks good. Doherty travels to Watford in a repeat of the FA Cup semi final. TAA has bottom of the league Huddersfield at home.

Jota travels to Watford who haven’t kept a clean sheet at home since GW26. Mané and Salah have a plum home game against Huddersfield and will be desperate to go back to the top of the league, temporarily at least. Son travels to a leaky West Ham defence and the Korean is suspended for the first leg of his semi final and should be guaranteed to start.

Up top all 3 play away. Wilson faces Southampton, Jimenez goes to Watford and Aguero plays Burnley. Aguero is going for the golden boot, so there’s plenty of motivation along with the league at stake.

Captaincy: It’s triple captain time. Liverpool facing the league’s worst team with everything to play for looks like the best option with what’s left. The reds don’t have their Champions League game till midweek which means rotation is highly unlikely. So, it’s down to Mané or Salah. Salah looks much better than when I previously sold him. It really was a coin toss and I’ve landed on Salah.
