FPL Updates XI – FPL Gameweek 30 – Fantasy Premier League Tips

GW29 saw us record a total of 45pts, our lowest scoring week since GW8. At this point we may be partially hindered by having so many GW31 players in our team but we are committed to the plan and I’m confident it pays off.

The 45pts has now seen us drop from 45k to 58k but I’m still very happy with our standing given that we have all our chips intact.

In goal it was Nick Pope again and the points were lost early in the early kick off. 8 games without a clean sheet and Tom Heaton nearing a return he will be taken out very soon here.

At the back our only returns came from Andrew Robertson. 3 clean sheets in a row he’s looking a steal at less than £5m. Marcos Alonso and Charlie Daniels blanked. Both struggling for FPL points of late.

With Raheem Sterling missing out again our midfield saw a Stoke double up. Something that no FPL team should have inflicted upon it. I’d honestly rather look at my bank statement the day after a night out than I would look at an FPL team with a Stoke attacking double up. Admittedly both Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Xherdan Shaqiri are in for the GW31 blank but unfortunately we had them both playing last week. Mo Salah scored, obviously and Richarlison didn’t. Obviously. It’s now 16 games without a goal for the Brazilian and I am starting to think I brought him in a little too early for the blank week. In the time that he last scored Salah has hit 17 league goals. Mind blowing.

Up top we gave the armband to Harry Kane and all he could muster was an assist. Roberto Firmino the same, whilst Callum Wilson blanked for the 4th game in a row. Another GW31 player letting us down.

So an underwhelming GW is hopefully going to improve this coming weekend. We have 2 free transfers available, £3.2m in the bank and 9 players currently with a GW31 fixture. But I’ve gone a little speculative with the 1 transfer I am making this week

Sterling (OUT) – Willian (IN)

Ok, so hear me out. With 2 free transfers I had to make one swap this week and I know we have 2 free transfers for GW31 players next week. So with Sterling still a slight concern I’ve chosen a player I think looks good this week. It would have been Eden Hazard but there are too many murmurs of him being rested. Although I’m not convinced of it I don’t want to risk it when I’m sure Willian starts and plays well in a favourable game.

Nick Pope sticks for what will be his last week as the FPL Updates XI keeper. Away against West ham it will be great if he can leave with a cleanie.

At the back we have Ben Mee, Christopher Schindler and Marcos Alonso. Mee gives us a Burnley defensive double up but after setting the team up I realised that West Ham have scored in 12 straight Prem games. As shit as they’ve been the last couple weeks they still keep scoring goals. A clean sheet would be appreciated if not highly unexpected. It’s a shame our bench defenders have such poor games. Schindler starts and has gone 7 straight without a clean sheet. He is only going to be an FPL Updates XI player for 2 more GW’s so now’s the time for him to deliver. Another player on a point scoring drought is Alonso. 3 games without a return he is certainly due one. Home to Palace should give him a decent opportunity to do so.

In midfield Willian is in. I toyed with bringing Hazard in all week but I have a feeling he will be rested or at least fail to see a full 90 minutes. It’s certainly a gamble but I really like his potential this week. Our other 3 midfielders all face teams in the top 6. I’m expecting very little from Richarlison and Xherdan Shaqiri but there’s always hope with Mo Salah. I guess it depends how much of a Mourinho type game it ends up being.

Our front line looks to very much be in the hands of Harry Kane. With Callum Wilson struggling for goals and Roberto Firmino away at United I’m hoping Kane can bounce back from Champions League disappointment. He blanked against Bournemouth at home earlier in the season but I really fancy at least a goal this week.

Looking at our team I’m more than aware this will be a week where we be hopeful of just maintaining position. Match ups are not overly favourable so if we avoid dropping too much I’ll be happy. Green arrows are a pipe dream. Saying that I’m more than content with this given our GW31 coverage and all chips intact. Our pre-season aim of top 100k looks nailed on so at this point I’m not hoping for a top 25k finish. That would leave us in the top 0.5%.

This week more than ever we need help getting the captaincy decision right. So as always please feel free to vote below and help us achieve the goal. Good luck all!
