Another gameweek filled with rotation madness, but isn’t that what Fantasy Premier League is all about? To be prepared against all odds. So for the 3rd time this week, here is another Gameweek Preview, analysing each fixture and cherry picking the men bound to deliver this gameweek
So good luck & may your arrows be green!
Bournemouth vs Liverpool
The Cherries come into this off the back of their first win in 5 whilst the Reds are bang on form and are flying high in the league table. We have 2 attack minded sides locking horns and this fixture produces goals. We should expect nothing less.
STAR MAN: Mohamed Salah (13.0m)
Having being benched for the midweek clash against the Clarets, he will be poised to produce an impact from the very start.
PREDICTION: Bournemouth 2-3 Liverpool
Arsenal vs Huddersfield
The Gunners come into this game on the back of a hard fought for draw against fierce rivals, Manchester United. With the race for the top 4 already heating up, Emery and his boys wouldn’t really want to drop any more points. An Arsenal win seems to be on cards.
STAR MAN: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (11.2m)
Having been denied a number of times by the resilient David de Gea, he will be looking to get back on the scoresheet this time around.
PREDICTION: Arsenal 3-0 Huddersfield
Burnley vs Brighton
Brighton have been on a roll of late, having picked up back to back wins. Burnley on the contrary have been winless in each of their last 8 league games. Will this one go to the in-form side or is this an opportunity for Burnley to turn their fortunes around? We reckon an away win.
STAR MAN: Solly March (5.0m)
4 assists in the last 5 games. He could be one to look up to in the upcoming busy festive period.
PREDICTION: Burnley 1-2 Brighton
Cardiff vs Southampton
First game in charge for new manager Hasenhuttl, the Saints will indeed be looking to put their best foot forward. Similarly, Cardiff will also be looking to take advantage until the new manager finds his best 11 and puts his tactics in place.
STAR MAN: Neil Etheridge (4.5m)
The Philippines international is bound to have a busy day in-between the sticks.
PREDICTION: Cardiff 0-0 Southampton
Manchester United vs Fulham
The Red Devils come into this game on the back of back to back draws. Jose and his boys really need to get some points on the table, and a home game against the side bottom of the league table should really help their cause.
STAR MAN: Anthony Martial (7.6m)
If fit, he will be a menace to deal with for that Cottagers defence.
PREDICTION: Manchester United 2-0 Fulham
West Ham vs Crystal Palace
Manuel Pellegrini will be looking to make it three wins on the bounce as his West Ham side take on Crystal Palace this weekend. West Ham have won back-to-back games for the first time since January 2017 after a 3-1 win over Cardiff in midweek and as a result have climbed to 13th in the table. Crystal Palace, meanwhile, are in danger of being swallowed by the relegation battle after a disappointing 3-1 defeat to rivals Brighton left them three points above the drop-zone.
STAR MAN: Chicharito (6.2m)
The little Mexican will be looking to get on the scoresheet and secure a very important win for his team in this busy December period.
PREDICTION: West Ham 2-1 Crystal Palace
Chelsea vs Manchester City
It took Maurizio Sarri 13 league matches before he tasted his first Premier League defeat and the second followed swiftly after. The bounce-back win against Fulham after Tottenham inflicted that first defeat of the campaign was almost turned to dust by another loss, this time away at Wolves. It leaves Chelsea, and Sarri, looking for a plan B and an alternative to the much famed ‘Sarri-ball’ tactics. Man City, meanwhile, sit pretty at the top of the table. Pep Guardiola’s side have won their last seven top-flight games, and have only dropped two points (in the draw against Liverpool) all season. Sarri can expect his toughest Premier League test yet. He faced City, albeit in the Community Shield, in his first match in charge: a 2-0 victory for Guardiola’s side.
STAR MAN: Raheem Sterling (11.5m)
After being benched in his previous game, he will be in the mood to get back on the scoresheet and improve his goal tally.
PREDICTION: Chelsea 2-2 Manchester City
Leicester vs Tottenham
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have won 11 of their 15 Premier League games this season to climb above Chelsea into third in the table. However, Spurs tasted defeat on their last visit to the King Power Stadium and that will hand Leicester a psychological boost. The Foxes continued their run of six games without defeat when they drew 1-1 at Fulham on Wednesday, but this will be a much tougher test for Claude Puel’s side. Their two home defeats this season have come against Liverpool and Everton, teams who are currently above them in the table, and Spurs could be next on the list but we know how Leicester could hurt them if they turn up to the party.
STAR MAN: James Maddison (6.8m)
Has scored in his previous two fixtures and will be looking to make it three in a row and make it difficult for the visitors.
PREDICTION: Leicester 2-1 Tottenham
Newcastle vs Wolves
Newcastle United did well to hold Everton to a draw at Goodison Park in their last league fixture, with Salomon Rondon scoring his second goal of the season. The Magpies have been in fine form of late and that is surely giving fans reason for optimism ahead of Sunday’s match against Wolves. Newcastle United have recorded three wins in their previous five league fixtures, but the match against Wolves will be anything but a walk in the park. Wolverhampton did well to come from behind and beat star-studded Chelsea in their last league match, meaning that they are brimming with confidence ahead of the trip to Newcastle. Seeing that the Magpies are tough to beat at home, a close encounter is on the horizon and we predict that the two teams are going to share the spoils at St. James’ Park.
STAR MAN: Yoshinori Muto (5.7m)
He could be the deciding factor in this game as Newcastle look to build on recent form.
PREDICTION: Newcastle 1-1 Wolves
Everton vs Watford
After dropping two points in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United, Everton will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Watford at Goodison Park. The Toffees aim to stay in the race for a place in European competitions and we believe that they are going to take advantage of the fact that Watford are suffering from their usual dip in form. A man to watch in the home team will be Brazilian ace Richarlison, who scored his sixth goal of the season in the draw with the Magpies. The Hornets, on the other hand, extended their losing run in the English top flight to three games on Tuesday evening, with the team suffering a 2-1 defeat to Man City at Vicarage Road. Considering that the Toffees have turned Goodison Park into a real fortress, a home win should be considered.
STAR MAN: Gylfi Sigurdsson (7.5m)
He can provide the vital final pass through the Watford defence which could be pivotal if the Toffees are to get the three points in this game.
PREDICTION: Everton 2-1 Watford
