Gameweek 19 FPL Review – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 19 saw the festive football truly arrive, with one Friday night fixture followed by 9 fixtures on the Saturday! The gameweek saw City continue their amazing form, with another seemingly easy 4-0 victory, whilst Harry Kane bagged a hat-trick in a 0-3 Spurs win. Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool all dropped points as all four could only muster a draw. Without further ado, here’s the Gameweek 19 FPL Review:

Goalkeeper

Rob Elliot – At 4.1m, Elliot is the cheapest playing goalkeeper in the game and he certainly provided value for money this weekend as he saved a penalty in Newcastle’s 2-3 victory over West Ham. That said, 89% of his owners left him on the bench and were left reeling over his 9 point haul.

Defenders

Phil Jagielka – Everton were unable to get a shot on target against Cheksea, which was the first time at home since they played Stoke in 2011, whereas Chelsea managed 25 goal attempts (8 on target), yet this fixture ended 0-0. Jagielka managed to also pick up 3 bonus points, coupled with his clean sheet meaning a total of 9 points.

Markus Suttner – Brighton saw out a narrow 1-0 victory over Watford, in which a Pascal Gross goal was all that separated the teams. Selected by 0.5% of FPL managers, Suttner managed to pick up a clean sheet and 2 bonus points, giving him a total tally of 8 points.

Serge Aurier – Our final defender is Aurier who managed to assist one of Harry Kane’s goals and pick up 2 bonus points. This meant that the 0.4% of Fantasy Premier League managers that own him were rewarded with 8 points!

Midfielders

Christian Atsu – Newcastle managed to beat West Ham 3-2, in which Atsu was involved in all three of their goals, with one goal and two assists. Owned by just 1.2% of fantasy managers, Atsu was an ultra differential this week and with Brighton, Stoke and Swansea in their next four, he could find himself with a few more owners in the coming weeks.

Juan Mata – The gameweek was finished off with Leicester scoring a last minute equaliser, meaning it finished 2-2 against United. Mata however managed to score a brilliant free kick and also scored the opener, coupled with 3 bonus points, meaning that Mata finished the gameweek on 15 points.

Raheem Sterling – Having a good record against Bournemouth prior to this fixture, many looked at Raheem for the captaincy and he did not disappoint. A goal (taking his tally to 9 against Bournemouth) and an assist, along with bonus points gave the Englishman a respectable 13 points.

Joe Allen & Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting – Stoke got back to winning ways this gameweek after 3 straight defeats, as they beat West Brom 3-1 at home. Both Allen and Choupo-Moting scored and assisted, giving them both a place in the dream team, with the only thing separating them being bonus points!

Forwards

Harry Kane – Although Kane has been inconsistent this season, no one can argue his goalscoring ability is one of the best! This gameweek, the Spurs forward managed to bag himself a hat-trick, equalling Alan Shearer’s 22 year old record of 36 goals in a calendar year and with a game against Southampton on Boxing Day, Kane just needs a single goal to break the record.

Sergio Aguero – Another premium FPL forward in Sergio Aguero made it into this weeks dream team with 2 goals and an assist! In this match, Aguero also managed to score his 100th goal at the Etihad and with plenty of rumours circulating about the Argentine’s future, Pep Guardiola would be a brave man to let the club’s record goal scorer go.
