Huddersfield have bolstered their attacking force with the signing of Norwich attacking midfielder Alex Pritchard. The fee for the former Tottenham youngster was £11,000,000 and becomes the Terriers’ second January signing after their loan deal for Terence Kongolo.
Before signing for Huddersfield, Pritchard had just 77 minutes of Premier League football under his belt, but after dropping down a league, he has impressed David Wagner enough to splash a significant amount of cash on him.
“He is exactly the type of player that we like to work with at this Club. Alex is a young, British player who arrives as one of the top performers in the Sky Bet Championship and with a desire to prove himself in the Premier League.”
Fantasy Premier League Potential
Pritchard is priced at 5.5m which is seemingly a fair price. This makes him the same price as Tom Ince and ever so slightly dearer than Huddersfield’s highest point scoring outfielder Aaron Mooy. He played 25 minutes in their humiliating 4-1 defeat to West Ham in gameweek 23 and a further 59 minutes in their 2-0 defeat to Stoke on Saturday. This is encouraging for those who would be concerned about game time, as he appears to already be integrating into the team and he will look to earn a solid starting spot in the coming weeks.
This season he has played just eight times for Norwich in the Championship assisting 2 and scoring a single goal, which makes you consider why Wagner has spent a considerable amount of money on the 24 year old. To be fair, Pritchard has had to have ankle surgery recently so he may not be currently playing to his full potential.
Huddersfield’s next five fixtures are as follows; Liverpool (H), Manchester United (A), Bournemouth (H), West Brom (A) and Tottenham (A). The upcoming games do look very hard so it may be wise to stay away from Pritchard and any other Huddersfield players. However those fixtures do begin to turn so he could be a decent option if he can fit in well.
