Fantasy Football Potential – Davy Propper

Newly promoted Brighton and Hove Albion have signed Dutch midfielder Davy Propper from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven for an undisclosed fee, but it is believed to be a club record fee. The 25 year old has played 4 times for his country and in the Champions League multiple times.

In total, Davy Propper has played over 200 Eredivise games for both Vitesse and PSV, scoring over 30 goals in the process. He won an Eredivise title in his first season with PSV in the 2015/16 season.

Manager Chris Hughton said:

“Davy is a player with great experience of the Eredivisie with Vitesse Arnhem and PSV Eindhoven.”

There is no doubting his pedigree. Davy has played a number of matches in the Champions League for PSV, as well as international football for the Netherlands.

Fantasy Football Potential

Davy Propper has a price tag of 5.5m on FPL which could be a very good price for the Dutchman, depending on how advanced he plays for the Seagulls. Also, Propper has a fantastic disciplinary record. The 6ft 1ins midfielder was booked just 3 times last season and has only received one red card throughout his whole career.

He could be a decent option for a 4th or 5th midfielder as his scoring and disciplinary record is more than decent at the price tag he has been given. Also, he will become more selectable depending on how Brighton can start life in their inaugural season in the Premier League.

Brighton’s opening fixtures are as follows: Manchester City (H), Leicester (A), Watford (A), West Brom (H) and Bournemouth (A). These fixtures may be an indication as to whether Propper can adapt quickly and has what it takes to play in the Premier League, which I’m sure he will.
