Fantasy Football Potential – Eldin Jakupovic

2015/16 champions Leicester City have added to their goalkeeping assets with the purchase of Hull City goalkeeper, Eldin Jakupovic. He also joins former team mate Harry Maguire at the Foxes. The Swiss impressed last season for the Tigers, but to no avail as Hull were relegated to the Championship after a miserable return to the Premier League.

Eldin Jakupovic made 27 appearances last season for Hull in all competitions. He started the season as their first team goalkeeper, playing their first five matches, but due to injury and the form of David Marshall, he failed to start another Premier League match until the turn of the new year.

The 32 year old kept 5 clean sheets in 22 appearances, whilst saving penalties against Arsenal and Southampton in the Premier League.

Eldin Jakupovic on his move to Leicester:

“I’m going to fight and I’m here to push. A healthy competition is always good and that’s only a positive thing. For sure, I’ll wait for my chance but I am here and I’m very excited.”

Fantasy Football Potential

Obviously Jakupovic is going to find it hard making it into many Fantasy Premier League teams due to the fact that Schmeichel has had three wonderful seasons with Leicester in the Premier League. Also he has been priced at 4.5m which is the same as other goalkeepers who are regular starters at their respective clubs.

Unsurprisingly, Jakupovic has just a 0.2% ownership in FPL which sums up the lack of potential for this goalkeeper. But who knows, one early injury to Schmeichel may mean Jakupovic can be a viable FPL option once again.

Leicester’s opening fixtures are as followed; Arsenal (A), Brighton (H), Manchester United (A), Chelsea (H) and Huddersfield (A). These fixtures are not too encouraging even if Jakupovic plays a part in them.
