Fantasy Football Potential – Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Arsenal have signed midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan from rivals Manchester United in a swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez who was clearly unhappy at the Gunners. The Armenian endured a similar situation at United which has lead to the swap deal occurring.

Mkhitaryan joined United from Dortmund and could link up at his new club with former team mate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang which could turn into a deadly duo. Internationally, Mkhitaryan has a fantastic record for Armenia, as he has 25 goals in 70 games for a country who have never qualified for an international tournament since becoming its own country.

On his move, Henrikh said:

“I’m very happy that we could finish this deal and I’m very happy to be here. It’s a dream come true because I’ve always dreamed of playing for Arsenal. Now that I’m here, I’ll do my best for this club to create history.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential

Mkhitaryan had an electric start to his Premier League campaign racking up 37 FPL points in just his first five matches which included 1 goal and 5 assist. However since then, he hasn’t scored or assisted and has just 20 points.

He has also played only 920 minutes this season and hasn’t actually completed the full 90 all season. Because of this he may need a couple of games to regain full fitness and shake away any possible rustiness.

Arsenal’s next five fixtures are as follows: Swansea (A), Everton (H), Tottenham (A), Man City (H) and Brighton (A). Mkhitaryan could become a great option after the two difficult games as their fixtures do turn for the better for a substantial amount of matches.
