Fantasy Football Potential – Jose Izquierdo

Brighton have once again broken their transfer record with the signing of winger Jose Izquierdo from Belgian outfit Club Brugge for a fee reported to be around £15 million. The Colombian joins Brighton alongside many other summer signings and given his form last season, he will more than likely be a regular in Chris Hughton’s lineup.

Jose Izquierdo scored a very impressive 15 goals in all competitions last season from a predominantly left wing position. He will bring rapid pace to the Seagulls’ squad, which will be a welcomed addition. The 25 year old has also played twice for his country, scoring a goal in the process in a friendly against Cameroon.

Speaking earlier this week, Hughton said:

“This has been a very complex deal, but I am absolutely delighted we are finally in a position to confirm it is completed. I would like to thank all those involved for their hard work and am delighted Jose is now able to begin work.”

Fantasy Football Potential

Izquierdo is priced at 6.0m making him ever so slightly more expensive than Brighton compatriot Knockaert, who has recently dropped to 5.9m. The south American could be a good replacement for any FPL managers wanting to transfer out the likes of Ritchie or Phillips.

The success of Izquierdo’s inaugural season in the Premier League will be dependent on how well the team does as a whole this season.

Brighton’s next five fixtures are as follows: West Brom (H), Bournemouth (A), Newcastle (H), Arsenal (A) and Everton (H). The next three matches for sure will be tempting many FPL managers which could result in an influx in Izquierdo’s ownership if he has a decent start to his Premier League career.
