Fantasy Football Potential – Ross Barkley

Reigning champions Chelsea, have signed Everton midfielder Ross Barkley for a fee believed to be around £15,000,000. The attack minded midfielder hasn’t played for the Toffees all season due to injury, but that didn’t stop Antonio Conte from spending the money on him.

In his previous two seasons for Everton, he has a combined total of 13 goals and 20 assists, whilst also representing England in that time. He has racked up a very impressive amount of 302 FPL points which is more than good enough for any FPL team at his price.

Barkley said:

“I’m looking forward to getting started, putting the injury behind me and trying to be successful at Chelsea. I’m back in training, I’m doing everything as normal and I’m very close to being ready to play games. I’ve been training for a few weeks now and I’m feeling great.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential

As above mentioned, Barkley has failed to play a single minute of Premier League football so far this season due to injury. However he is back in training meaning he could be back in many FPL manager’s squads.

His price is 7.3m which makes him slightly cheaper than Pedro, but more expensive than Willian who is more than likely higher in the pecking order at Chelsea. Despite this, Barkley could be a handy differential if he can regain his fitness and rediscover the form that saw him break into the England team.

Chelsea’s next five fixtures are as follows; Bournemouth (H), Watford (A), West Brom (H), Manchester United (A) and Manchester City (A). Aside from the difficult games at Old Trafford and the Etihad, those games are very favourable, but its not clear how much Barkley will feature.
