Fantasy Football Potential – Terence Kongolo

Huddersfield have signed AS Monaco defender Terence Kongolo on loan for the rest of the season. The Dutch International can play both left back and centre half and will hopefully help sure up the Huddersfield back line.

Kongolo has featured three times for his country including going to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and played all the way through their youth ranks. The vast majority of his career has been spent at Dutch side Feyenoord, where he played 106 Eredevise matches scoring just the once.

David Wagner said:

“Terence is a top player who we’ve followed from his time at Feyenoord. His big summer move to Monaco put him out of our reach at the time, but we’re delighted we can bring him in on loan now.”

Wagner has also said that he is a high quality centre back who will be a great option with other players unavailable due to injury. This suggests that Kongolo will be utilised as a centre half which damages his chances of becoming a good FPL asset due to the great partnership created by Zanka and Schindler.

He is priced at 4.5m, which is a mid range price for a Huddersfield defender. If either of the starting centre backs do suffer an injury then Kongolo would become a cheaper option and could be tempting. He also featured for 19 minutes in the Terriers’ convincing defeat at the hands of West Ham last Saturday.

Huddersfield’s next five fixtures are as follows; Liverpool (H), Manchester United (A), Bournemouth (H), West Brom (A) and Tottehnham (A). The upcoming games do look very difficult so it wouldn’t be advisable to bring Kongolo or any other Huddersfield players into your FPL teams. However, after these, the fixtures do begin to turn so he could be a decent option if he can get some game time.
