Kasey Palmer- Fantasy Premier League Potential

Huddersfield have continued to strengthen their squad with the loan deal of Kasey Palmer who returns to Huddersfield from Chelsea after being a member of the promotion team last season. The deal is agreed until 30th June 2018.

The Versatile midfielder spent the 2016/17 season on loan at Huddersfield, helping them with their promotion chances. Kasey Palmer made 24 appearances in the first half of the season before receiving the news of a lengthy injury, which kept him on the sidelines for almost the remainder for the season.

This is what manager, David Wagner thought of his new loan deal:

“I’m very happy to have Kasey back at the Club. As we know from last season, he’s a very talented English player with high potential.

“Just as importantly, he is a fantastic personality too. He has real desire and hunger to be as good as he can be, but he’s also very humble. This is the best and most exciting mix that a player can have as he strives to become an excellent Premier League player.

“I know he feels he has unfinished business after his injury last season and I think that determination will be a big plus for him and the team this season.”

Fantasy football potential

Kasey Palmer’s performances for Huddersfield Town in the championship were hit and miss. At 20 years of age, consistency is what brings out a star player and Palmer’s injury certainly didn’t help. In the 24 appearances Palmer made before getting injured he managed to play 1,295 minutes of football with 4 goals, 3 assists and 4 yellow cards.

Of those appearances he made, 16 out of the 27 saw him start. The versatility that he has means he can fit in any attacking midfield role (Left/Right/Centre Attacking), which leaves his manager with options as to where he can play the youngster. With fellow signing Aaron Mooy (member of 2016/17 squad) and new midfielder Tom Ince will definitely add depth to Wagner’s side and may provide fierce competition for first team appearances.

Kasey Palmer may have a starting price of 4.5m to 5.0m on FPL, taking into account the lengthy injury and the potential inexperience in a newly promoted squad. Kaser Palmer is however highly thought of at Chelsea and could provide a cheap option to potentially come off the bench.

Huddersfield’s opening fixtures may provide the information needed for fantasy managers to include their players in their opening squads as they play; Crystal Palace (A), Newcastle United (H), Southampton (H), West Ham (A) and Leicester (H) in their first 5. In what seems to be a mediocre opening 5 fixtures for Huddersfield, they will look to make Kirklees Stadium a tricky away visit to have the best chances of points at the start of the season.
