Gameweek 16 was a week for big points and in the midst of the capital one ties being played midweek, we find ourselves only a few days away from gameweek 17. With that said, here is our gameweek 17 preview.
Manchester City Vs Crystal Palace
There is no stopping the champions right now who are on a rampant run and closing the gap on the title leaders Chelsea, so it should be an extremely comfortable win for the boys in light blue, against a struggling Crystal Palace side.
STAR MAN – Samir NASRI
Nasri has a goal and three assists in his last three games for Man City so his recent good form should continue in this very winnable fixture.
Aston Villa Vs Manchester United
Another side who cannot stop winning, Van Gaal currently boasts six wins on the trot and a lacklustre Aston Villa side who have scored ten goals all season should not pose any threat in stopping the Red Devils taking all the points.
STAR MAN – Juan MATA
The Spanish midfield maestro is popping up with goals from the middle of the park as well as assisting his fellow teammates.
Hull City Vs Swansea
Hull have slowly drifted into a winless run of form, slipping into the bottom three whilst the Swans have also experienced a dip in the season after their impressive start earlier on, but both sides should have enough to share a point apiece.
STAR MAN – Wilfried BONY
The top scorer in the Premier League in 2014, Bony is the only real main goal threat in this Premier League fixture.
QPR Vs West Brom
Queens Park Rangers’ path to survival is going to have to come from their home form this season and they boast an impressive record at Loftus Road, whilst the Albion are struggling to gain any real consistency, so we see a home win.
STAR MAN – Charlie AUSTIN
No Englishman has scored more goals than Austin this season who returns from suspension, hopefully with his shooting boots on.
Southampton Vs Everton
The high-flying Southampton have now lost five games in a row, proving that perhaps their squad lacks the depth needed to go all the way, whilst Everton’s on and off season continues so a score draw is likely here.
STAR MAN – Ross BARKLEY
The Englishman is capable of some absolute screamers from midfield and is always getting himself forward into great positions.
Tottenham Vs Burnley
The Spurs are currently marching on with an impressive away victory last week, whilst Burnley are slowly but surely showing us that they are a contender for survival this season, but a home win should happen easily.
STAR MAN – Hugo LLORIS
Arguably the only world-class player in their side, he is capable of some top quality saves in the goalkeeping position.
West Ham Vs Leicester City
The Hammers still sit in the top four to everyone’s surprise and they should continue their winning ways against the side who are bottom of the league and the Foxes have not won since their impressive victory over Manchester United.
STAR MAN – Stewart DOWNING
Downing has had an exceptional season so far and has already beaten the goal scoring record he had at Liverpool.
Newcastle Vs Sunderland
This fierce derby clash has led to goals galore in recent history but Newcastle have had some impressive victories at home so far this season, whilst Sunderland cannot stop drawing, so the home team should triumph.
STAR MAN – Paul DUMMETT
The young Welshman is a fantastic defender who should keep a clean sheet here as well as bomb down the wings with some assists.
Liverpool Vs Arsenal
The tie of the weekend, we all remember the absolute thrashing last season, but the tables have turned and there is still uncertainty surrounding the future of both the managers’ jobs. A draw is a likely result.
STAR MAN – Santi CAZORLA
The cheeky Spaniard has been playing so well as of late and even has the cheek to dink a Panenka in his last performance.
Stoke City Vs Chelsea
The league leaders returned to winning ways and should carry this on in the Monday Night Football fixture but it will be no simple encounter against a Stoke side who have beaten both Man City and Arsenal this season.
STAR MAN – Eden HAZARD
The Belgian beauty has been showing off his trickery and we are in no doubt that he will blossom against Stoke.
