Fantasy Football Potential – Adama Diakhaby

Huddersfield have signed another player from AS Monaco, this time it’s attacker Adama Diakhaby for a fee in the region of £9 million. Diakhaby mostly played as a centre forward for both Monaco and Stade Rennais but can also play on either wing.

He featured 47 times in the Ligue 1 for the two teams and scored six times with three assists. A great portion of those matches were from the bench so his goal involvement per 90 minutes is actually better than it looks.

David Wagner has said:

“Obviously he is still learning and improving at 22 years old, but he already has many of the qualities that we look for in our attacking players. He’s a direct player who is comfortable with the ball at his feet and with genuine pace, which suits our style perfectly.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (5.0m)

Diakhaby will seemingly replace the recently departed Tom Ince, who has just made a move down a division to Championship side Stoke. They have also added Ramadan Sobhi to their ranks but I believe Diakhaby will get the nod if they are in competition.

Similarly to Sobhi, he has been priced at £5.0m which I believe is more than fair. He may even get a run up front for Huddersfield if a few injuries occur, so he might be one to watch at that price. I wouldn’t recommend having him in the gameweek 1 team though, as the fixtures aren’t great and you don’t how how he will adapt to the Premier League.

Huddersfield’s first five fixtures are as follows: Chelsea (H), Manchester City (A), Cardiff (H), Everton (A) and Crystal Palace (H). It’s quite a difficult start for Wagner’s side but it does get easier so Diakhaby could prove to be a good option in a few weeks time.
