So with a December packed full of fixtures, we move swiftly onto gameweek 16. Here is our gameweek 16 preview and our star man picks:
Burnley v Southampton
The surprisingly amazing start to Southampton’s season has slowly died down now however they still remain in a very impressive league position, whilst Burnley are going to have to massively rely on their home form if they want to remain in the division.
STAR MAN – Graziano PELLE
He went five games without scoring but this Italian has re-found his shooting boots and should score in this game comfortably.
Chelsea v Hull
It has been a very long while since Hull have won a football match and it does not look like they will change that current record as they go to a Chelsea side who boast a 100% home record, despite only gaining one point out of a possible six in their last couple of games.
STAR MAN – Didier DROGBA
I know what you’re thinking, this is not the star man you will have anticipated, but Drogba is rapid when he comes fresh off the bench and has scored vs United, Tottenham and Newcastle!
Crystal Palace v Stoke
This is a battle between two of the most inconsistent teams in the league, so it is rather hard to predict an outcome. However, they have both recently come off the back of impressive victories against the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal.
STAR MAN – Yannick BOLASIE
His unbelievable trickery and pace has been a joy to watch so far this season and he should serve up some assists in this home tie.
Leicester v Man City
Despite the tragic injury to Sergio Aguero, the champions are still in rampant form at the moment and cannot seem to stop winning, and there could be goals galore as they entertain the current bottom team in the league.
STAR MAN – Yaya TOURE
The Ivorian fantasy star of last season is getting back to his best and you know any set-piece will surely fall to this man.
Sunderland v West Ham
Sunderland have only won two games of the fifteen they have played this season, which is rather poor indeed, whilst the shock package West Ham still lie confidently in the top 4, so an away win should be on the cards.
STAR MAN – Andy CARROLL
The Englishman has brought a new lease of life to the Hammers with his aerial ability proving most difficult to deal with.
West Brom v Aston Villa
This Birmingham derby always throws up quite a few surprises but West Brom have not won in five, whereas the Villa are unbeaten in five so there is arguably only one way that this game is going to turn out.
STAR MAN – Christian BENTEKE
This absolute beast showed last week that not only can he score goals, but he is a team player and gets in on the assists too.
Arsenal v Newcastle
Both these sides are level on points and will both be fielding their third-choice goalkeepers, so respectively it may well be a festival of goals, but the Gunners should have enough strength to come out on top.
STAR MAN – Aaron RAMSEY
Another fantasy king from last season, Ramsey got back in the goals last weekend and should continue this form.
Man Utd v Liverpool
There is just no stopping Manchester United right now. They are absolutely rampant and cannot stop winning. Liverpool on the other hand have become a mid-table side so the home team should come out on top.
STAR MAN – Robin VAN PERSIE
The Flying Dutchman we all know and love is returning to the kind of form that we know he can produce.
Swansea v Tottenham
Both these sides sit in the top half of the table and it is quite hard to pick a winner so the points will probably be shared apiece, but Swansea do have a pretty solid record at home, whilst you just don’t know what you’re going to get with Spurs.
STAR MAN – Ashley WILLIAMS
Tottenham have been struggling for goals and this leader on the pitch should provide the platform for a clean sheet with an occasional headed goal.
Everton v QPR
Queens Park Ranger have been woeful away from home and not picked up a single point whilst Everton have enjoyed a mixed start to the season, so the home side should come out on top with ease.
STAR MAN – Tim HOWARD
This exceptional goalkeeper should easily get his clean sheet and his remarkable saves will bump up his points a little too.
Dean.
