Gameweek 18 Review

So Gameweek 18 fell on Boxing Day, which is viewed by many football fans as the real Christmas Day and what a gameweek it was! Here is how the Dream Team XI looked at the end of gameweek 18, well done if any of you got close to the maximum of 131! Here it is:

Dreamteam

Goalkeeper

This week Stoke City and Asmir Begovic managed to keep Everton out and the visitors ended up going home with all three points after a 0-1 win over the Toffees. Begovic managed to make 4 saves during the game, and also earned himself a single bonus point, which gave him a total of 8 points and a place in the Dream Team for gameweek 18.

Defenders

John Terry has now scored 2 goals in 2 weeks! The Chelsea captain found the back of the net once again with the opener against West Ham after being teed up by Diego Costa. Terry also helped the Blues keep a clean sheet, giving him a massive 15 points!

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho is the second defender who makes it into this weeks Dream Team after he helped Liverpool to a 0-1 win over Burnley. The french defender also stole all three bonus points, giving him a total of 9 points.

The final defender in this weeks Dream Team XI is Toby Alderweireld who scored a goal in Southampton’s 1-3 win over Crystal Palace. The defender who was brought in this season managed to grab himself a bonus point, and a total of 9 points. The Belgian seems to have adapted well to the Premier League, and has slotted in nicely with Southampton’s lineup.

Midfielders

This week we have a 5 man midfield, and once again the Spanish wizard David Silva makes an apearance after he managed to score his 5th goal and pick up his 3rd assist of the season. This along with 3 bonus points resulted in a tidy score of 14 points from the midfielder.

Saido Mane is the second Saints player to feature this week as he managed to match Silva’s performance of a goal and an assist, however he lost that additional clean sheet point, giving him only 13 points. Again, Mane was brought in this summer and is finally finding his stride and performing well for Southampton.

Gaston Ramirez makes it a hat-trick of 1 goal, 1 assist and 3 bonus points in this week’s Dream Team, as the Hull midfielder grabbed one and created one in Hull’s 1-3 win over Sunderland.

This season’s FPL bread and butter consists of Gylfi Sigurdsson as he is one of the most consistent performers, always popping up with a goal or an assist in games. This week he scored a free-kick in Swansea’s 1-0 win over Villa which also earned him the 3 bonus points!

Finally we have the youngster that the majority of FPL owners have dumped from their team, being Raheem Sterling. He helped Liverpool to their 0-1 win over Burnley after he grabbed the vital goal, which also gave him the 3 bonus points and a total of 11 points.

Strikers

This week’s top player was Wayne Rooney who played outstanding this week, with two goals and an assist, giving him 11 points straight off the bat. He also managed to bring home all 3 bonus points and the 2 for playing giving him a grand total of 16 points.

To end this week’s Dream Team, we have the up and rising Harry Kane who scored and assisted a goal (see the trend?) in Tottenham’s 1-2 win over Leicester City. His performance also earned him the crucial 3 bonus points and a total of 12 points.
