Gameweek 36 Review

Another gameweek has passed, leaving us only two gameweeks until the summer break! This week saw those who captained Sergio Aguero reap the rewards. Here is how the dream team for gameweek 36 looked:

Dreamteam

Goalkeeper

Arsenal were pushing for that second place finish and a fixture against Swansea was thought to be somewhat of a formality. However, up stepped Swansea and former Arsenal keeper, Lukas Fabianski who looked to have glue on his gloves as he saved everything! A clean sheet, along with 9 saves and the 3 bonus points saw Fabianksi end the gameweek on a huge 12 points!

Defenders

This week 3 Manchester City players feature, with the first being Aleksander Kolarov, who managed to benefit from a poor turnout by QPR. The defender managed to find himself on the scoresheet this week with a great free kick. Along with this, a clean sheet and a single bonus point saw him end the week with 13 points.

Since Sherwood has taken charge of Aston Villa they really have started to perform well. This week Aston Villa and Jores Okore took on West Ham and ran away with all 3 points as they won 1-0. With this performance, Jores earned himself a place in the dream team as the Villa defender managed to keep a clean sheet, coupled with 3 bonus points, which saw him finish on 9 points for the week.

John Terry has undoubtedly been the best centre back this season, and this week he became the highest goalscoring defender in Premier League history. This was the highlight of a somewhat dull 1-1 draw with Liverpool. Terry picked up 9 points this week, as he grabbed a goal and a single bonus point.

Midfielders

Leicester City continued their fine form this week, with another win against a Southampton side that have been extremely impressive for most of this season. Riyad Mahrez however made them look very ordinary this week, with 2 goals to ensure his side look to stay in the Premier League. This along with 3 bonus points gave fantasy Premier League owners, some who even captained him and doubled this points total, a steep 16 points.

A second Manchester City player makes their way into gameweek 36’s dream team, in the form of David Silva. The Spaniard managed to pick up a goal and 2 assists in a 6-0 win over QPR as the Manchester side look to cement the second place spot in the Premier League. That and 2 bonus points see’s Silva bag a total of 16 points!

Stoke City have been extremely impressive of late and have proven that it doesn’t need to be a cold Monday night for them to grab 3 points, as they currently sit 9th in the league. Steven N’Zonzi has been one to benefit from their good form of late and showed this with a goal in Stoke’s 3-0 dispatch of Tottenham. This along with 3 bonus points earned the midfielder a total of 11 points.

With the likes of Di Maria, Falcao, Rooney and Co, who would have thought that at the start of the season we would be seeing Ashley Young in a fantasy football dream team!? Recently he has been in really good form, and Louis van Gaal has repaid this with a more regular place in the team. He managed two crucial assists and 11 points this week as Manchester United more or less secured 4th place by beating Crystal Palace 1-2.

The first game after Chelsea secured the title was against Liverpool which was also Steven Gerrard‘s last game against the London rivals in a Liverpool shirt. What better way to seal off his last game against the blues than with a goal, which proved to be the crucial goal to secure them a 1-1 draw, along with 10 points for the fantasy football owners.

Strikers

This week’s superstar was the Premier League’s top scorer Sergio Aguero, who amassed a massive 23 points this week after the 6-0 demolition of QPR, leaving the London side relegated to the Championship. Aguero, who notably isn’t even in the PFA players’ team of the season now has 25 goals this campaign, with 3 of these goals coming this week. This coupled with two assists and the crucial 3 bonus points saw him become the highest scoring player of the week.

Danny Graham was called back by Sunderland as they needed a source of goals, and what better time to pick up his first goal for the club than against Everton as they are deep in the relegation scrap!? 9 points on the board and who would ever have thought they would see the day that Graham features in a fantasy football dream team? Well he did this week!
