PRE-SEASON ANALYSIS – Tottenham

TottenhamLast season saw Tottenham sell Gareth Bale and bring in several new faces, which was evident with the instability that was present at the beginning of the season. This ultimately saw Andre Villas-Boas lose his job. Tim Sherwood steadied the ship somewhat and led Tottenham to a sixth place finish, but this was not enough as he was replaced at the end of the season by Mauricio Pochettino.

Mauricio Pochettino led Southampton to their highest ever finish and also their highest ever points tally. This impressed many clubs, and he was quickly snapped up by Daniel Levy and Tottenham. Now his challenge is to guide Tottenham to a top 4 finish along with Champions League football.

STAR MAN – Christian ERIKSEN

After a strong end to his first season in the BPL, Christian Eriksen could turn out to be one of the key players in fantasy football. With 7 goals and 9 assists over the whole campaign, if Eriksen shows similar form he would be a great addition to any team. His price can be seen as somewhat reasonable, being £8.0m which is one of the cheaper proven midfielders.

HIDDEN GEM – Erik LAMELA

Tottenham’s record signing came to London last season and failed to have any impact whatsoever, with no goals and just 1 assist in the league. Lamela has been regarded as a flop by many but after having trouble settling in, he may now be ready to show his true class. At £8.0m he can be seen as a little expensive but may be a very good differential if he hits the ground running. It should also be noted that he has already hit the back of the net twice in pre-season with both coming against Toronto in their 2-3 win.
