Under the Radar – Gameweek 22

Transfers become increasingly important towards the end of the season and it’s also crucial to have a few differentials within your side to set you apart from all the other template teams, something that is a huge issue this year. Once again, 2 players will be called up to feature in my under the radar article and hopefully, after this analysis, your FPL side as well.

So let’s begin.

DWIGHT GAYLE, £5.0M, 0.4% TSB

Budget forwards have been vital so far this year and it is always important to stay ahead of the game in this area. One player who I think can be the perfect budget buy is Palace forward Dwight Gayle. Renowned for his second half cameos that result in double digit FPL returns, Gayle is likely to get a solid run of games under new boss Alan Pardew. His first league start since November came at the weekend when Palace beat Spurs 2-1. Gayle got his goal and with 4 goal attempts, showing what a massive threat he can be. A good run of games for Palace coupled with a new ‘direct and attacking’ style of play implemented by Pardew should result in a heap of goals for the Eagles. Despite the loan signing of Sanogo, Gayle still looks set to get a run of games and I’m sure he’ll be their main source of goals. With just a 0.4% ownership, Gayle is ideal to partner two ‘big money’ strikers in your January wildcard sides – your call!

LAZAR MARKOVIC, £7.2M, 0.3% TSB

A difficult start to his Liverpool career meant Markovic couldn’t make the impact, at Anfield, which he so desired. However, a first Premier League start against Sunderland last weekend saw him grab a goal, as well as being involved in 4 goal attempts. A fairly high price tag makes Markovic a big risk, but if he can maintain this form he is likely to produce the goods in the short term. I think Liverpool can return to winning ways in the coming weeks and this means a lot of goals for the Reds. Again, a big risk but one that will pay off MASSIVELY.

That wraps up gameweek 22’s under the radar article. Good luck and see you next time.
