Challenge the Pros – Gameweek 5 FPL Tips – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Well thank goodness international week is over and we can get back to the bread and butter of the premier league. Mind you after our awful performance in gameweek 4, maybe we’d be better to sticking to international football. However, anyone can have a bad week and it’s how you respond that counts and I expect to return with a bang.

First a quick review of gameweek 4’s poor effort, saw our selections on premierpunt.com come up short, needless to say I wasn’t winning anyone’s cash. Anyway, onwards and upwards.

So, once again, this week we have decided to create our Challenge the Pros Premier Punt league to try take our mind off the lack of Premier League football! Last week it was Ryan Schupp who took home the majority of the pot, seeing himself top at the end of the gameweek. However this week, we are more than determined to win just as we did in some of the previous gameweeks!

So as mentioned, this week we have once again teamed up with Premier Punt and we are running a £1.00 entry league with the cash being split on the same basis as last week (details can be found on the site). To enter and compete with us, follow the steps below:

In order to join the league, you need to follow some simple steps:

  1. Log-in or register on the Premier Punt website
  2. Once logged in, choose “Barclays Premier League – Game Week 5”
  3. Pick the team you think will beat us…
  4. Join the challenge “Challenge The Pro’s”

So here is FPL Updates team:

Premier Punt

To kick things off we have banked for a Leicester City and Swansea clean sheet, with us featuring Schmeichel in goal and Morgan, Taylor and Williams at the back. With games against Aston Villa and Watford our hopes are high.

In the middle of the park we have some gambles. Firstly, we have Manchester City’s new boy Kevin De Bruyne, who did manage a goal and an assist in international duty. The next two are West Ham’s Lanzini, and Sunderland’s M’Vila. Both have been brought in over the summer by their respective clubs and have started well, so hopefully this form continues. Our final midfielder is Nathan Redmond who has scored 2 of their 5 goals this season, assisting one other.

Finally, up top we have 3 power houses; Pelle, Gomis and Kane. Pelle and Gomis have both started the season in good form, picking up some goals too. However the same cannot be said about Harry Kane, who just can’t buy a goal! Maybe this weekend he will open his account for the season, as he and Spurs face Sunderland.

Now onto FPL Avids and his team:

Avids

To start off my team I’ve gone for Tim Krul in goal. He’s made a lot of saves recently so even if he doesn’t pick up a clean sheet I might still pick up the odd point through save bonuses. Marshalling my defence are somewhat unorthodox picks with Leaky Leicester facing Aston Villa who are not looking the same goal threat as they were when they had a certain Belgian. Hopefully Leicester’s backline (my choices Morgan & Huth in particular) will tighten up to earn me 2 cheap cleansheets. Completing my defence are Aaron Cresswell and Winston Reid. The Hammers face Newcastle in MNF and although historically there is more goals in MNF, I see this being a quiet affair.

In midfield I’ve gone with 2 Belgians in Nacer Chadli of Spurs and Kevin De Bruyne of City. Both have decent fixtures so hopefully they can return the points to go along with their hefty pricetag. Finishing off my midfield is two players who have taken the Premier League by surprise this season; Redmond and Mahrez. Again with decent fixtures; Villa and Bournemouth respectively they should perform reasonably well.

Up top I’ve gone for Pedro. The guy has taken to the English league very well and hopefully he’ll carry on that form as Chelsea look to come back from a rather lackluster start to this season’s Premier League. Sergio Aguero remains in my team this week despite not looking his regular self. He’s bound to score eventually and Palace rarely keep a clean sheet so goals could be on the cards.

Note: Both teams are subject to change. May the best FPL Manager win!
