Gameweek 12 Review – Fantasy Premier League Tips

So another week of Fantasy Premier League football has gone by and another week’s worth of FPL points to discover. The international break loomed upon us and with every manager wanting to make a statement before the break, it set up nicely for intense matchups from start to finish over the course of gameweek 12. A high score of 105 FPL points this week, quite a low one and this is due to the low scoring games, and the top 4 only managing 5 goals overall for the weekend. So where could the points have been scored? Lets check out the FPL dreamteam to find out!

Dreamteam

Goalkeepers

Robert Elliot – Newcastle surprised everyone this week, and with a goalkeeping performance like this they will be climbing the table in no time! His picture is the cheesiest grin imaginable but he deserves to be happy after a clean sheet and 5 saves, making it his 2nd clean sheet in a row. The replacement keeper is performing after being put under so much pressure but the 3 bonus points gave him 10 points for the gameweek!

Defenders

Scott Dann – The Palace defender makes his second appearance of the season, after a late goal secured a shock result against Liverpool. The defender clinched all 3 points and held strong at the back to make sure Klopp wasn’t treated to his second win in the Premier League. With Sunderland next week, a clean sheet is probable so may be worth adding him into your squad for almost guaranteed points!

Maya Yoshida – A debut this week for inconsistent Yoshida, who started the season well but then dropped out of favour, means he finds himself in the top 11 after an impressive defensive display. 3 bonus points and his 3rd clean sheet of the season saw him rise to 27 points. He is definitely not a definite starter in the Southampton squad but when he does play he doesn’t do too bad!

Philipp Wollscheid – Quite a mouthful to say his name but what he did was quite simple, he stopped Chelsea from scoring for a full 90 minutes and managed to defend a 1-0 lead to make Chelsea’s season even worse than it already was. Stoke now have 4 clean sheets for the season and sit 12th which they will look to improve on with the calibre of players they acquired in the transfer window.

Andre Wisdom – Finally in this quite differential defence is the Norwich defender who played his part in keeping a clean sheet against Swansea. This may boost his chances of being started more often than he currently is, and with Chelsea next Norwich will need their back line to step up and upset the Champions. 2 bonus points saw him climb high but there were no goals in defence this week, they need to step it up!

Midfielders

Jesse Lingard – First up in this stacked midfield is the United youngster, who after a man of the match performance has dominated the headlines after grabbing a goal and such an impressive display. His first start this season, gave Van Gaal what he was looking for and he will be looking forward to seeing him develop, he may even break into the England team as he becomes more comfortable.

Jonny Howson – Another Norwich player, as 3 bonus points and his first Premier League goal saw 3 points taken away from Swansea.

Manuel Lanzini – Him and Payet have been running things this season, and with the Payet injury, he will be looked to to continue West Ham’s form after an impressive start to the season under a new manager. They haven’t looked the same this season, and the 2 central midfielders are vital to this change with the Hammers playing an impressive style of football and really bringing the game to some top teams. Lanzini got a goal and 3 bonus points to conclude the week.

Philippe Coutinho – The wizard makes it 2 weeks in a row and unfortunately it wasn’t enough to secure all 3 points for Liverpool against their bogey team Palace. Liverpool play City next gameweek and they will need to play like they did against Chelsea to stand a chance. This man has a huge part to play in doing just that, he really is a game changer!

N’Golo Kante – Finally in this midfield we have a Leicester defender who helped secure a 2-1 win against Watford. It could have went either way, but he will be happy with a 3rd place spot in the table and opening his account for the season, even if it is so late on. He will want to grow this tally as the season advances and definitely has the potential to do so.

Forward

Jamie Vardy – After criticism from Roy Hodgson saying he doesn’t plan on playing him as a centre forward, Vardy needed to respond and a goal this weekend did just that. He has now scored in 9 consecutive games and is 1 away from Van Nistelrooy’s record but a ban may be on the cards due to his attitude towards the linesman after a poor decision so he may have to wait a while before he can make history!
