Gameweek 4 Preview – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Another FPL gameweek is upon us (lets hope for some more green arrows), but in the meantime here is our fantasy premier league preview for gameweek 4 along with star men picks for each game.

NEWARS

Newcastle United vs Arsenal

The weekend kicks off putting two teams, who haven’t had the start either club would’ve wanted, against each other. Both The Magpies and The Gunners have scored just 2 in 3 games, so this is a match in which both managers will be looking to score more than previous matches. With Arsene Wenger only signing one player in Petr Cech and a poor attack in recent games, fans will be hopeful of the imminent arrival of a striker. They will have to make do with what they have and believe that their players such as Alexis Sanchez can step up and penetrate Newcastle’s defence.

STAR MAN – Georginio Wijnaldum

An unusual pick, but I think that the former PSV midfielder could be key in opening what is otherwise a shaky Arsenal defence. He has shown signs of promise in his games and offers quality in Newcastle’s midfield.

AVLSUN

Aston Villa vs Sunderland

Neither team have shown much sign of a good season. Sunderland did pick up a point against Swansea and managed to only concede one goal but Dick Advocaat will surely be out of a job before the end of the year. As for Villa, they haven’t been bad but not particularly good either. Both teams have made defensive mistakes which could be a reccuring theme when the two teams go head to head.

STAR MAN – Jeremaine Lens

Sunderland are lucky to have a player of Lens’ calibre. One of several impressive midfield signings from the non top 6 teams including Payet, Ayew, Wijnaldum and Shaqiri. Along with Defoe, the link up with Jer(e)main(e)could be vital to Sunderland’s season.

BOULEI

AFC Bournemouth vs Leicester City

Bournemouth registered their first ever goal and win in the Premier League in a 7 goal thriller against West Ham last week, however they come up against an unbeaten Leicester City side who have taken the BPL by storm. The Foxes will certainly be a challenege, as they showed by being one nil down for under a minute before equalising against Tottenham on Saturday, but you can’t doubt that the Cherries could surprise once again.

STAR MAN – Callum Wilson

The Bournemouth front man bagged the first hat-trick of the season in their 4-3 win as well as bagging 17 points for owners of the striker. He will look to continue his form against free scoring Leicester, which could prove the difference. If Bournemouth have any chance of taking points from Leicester, they will come from the 23 year old forward.

CHECRY

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace

A London derby takes place this weekend and unexpectedly, it’s probably Palace who come into the game with more confidence. Alan Pardew has worked wonders since his arrival and their game against Chelsea is one of his biggest challenges as Palace manager to date. Chelsea on the other hand have had some problems, when it was only last season they had the best defence in England! However they look to be revitalised with the signing of Pedro from Barcelona as well as Hazard and Costa seemingly coming back to form.

STAR MAN – Pedro

Chelsea hijacked LVG’s transfer plan for the attacker and on his first game for the Blue, he showed much needed positivity on the playing field. Mourinho will look to him once more for some magic going forward in a bid to get Chelsea’s season back on track.

LIVWHU

Liverpool vs West Ham United

A Liverpool side yet to concede face West Ham who let in 4 against new boys Bournemouth. While The Reds look comfortable at the back, a late winner at Stoke, a controversial goal against Bournemouth and stalemate at The Emirates prove they need more impact up front. They’ll have to look at £32.5M signing Christian Benteke to provide against the Hammers who currently have the uncertain Randoplh as their goalkeeper in place of the suspended Adrian. West Ham also have their fair share of problems as it seems that Maiga may be their only fit striker with Andy Carroll, Enner Valencia, Mauro Zarate and Diafra Sakho, who hobbled off early on Saturday, all out.

STAR MAN – Christian Benteke

The Belgian striker could cause more upset in the West Ham camp if he scores at Anfield. Benteke features in over 40% of FPL teams so needs to add more goals to his name to satisfy nearly half of Fantasy Premier League Players.

MCIWAT

Manchester City vs Watford

City are unstoppable at the moment! With 3 out of 3 clean sheets and 8 goals, many of their players look to be back to their best. Watford haven’t faired too bad themselves, still unbeaten this season and carry a good defensive record but there’s no doubting that Man City’s star power will be too much for them.

STAR MAN – David Silva

The Spainard once again is loving football at the moment. He is the assist master, able to pick out whoever he wants. I think that he will assist yet again this weekend and possibly bag a goal for himself too.

STKWBA

Stoke City vs West Brom

Both teams are yet to pick up a win, with Stoke picking up a point against Norwich and Albion narrowly missing out on a point in the match against Chelsea. However, both teams have also looked promising in their first 3 weeks contrary to not having a win to show for it. This should be an interesting battle and could be anyone’s game. Both Tony Pulis and Mark Hughes will be eager to get 3 points here.

STAR MAN – Xherdan Shaqiri

The £12M signing looked promising on his Stoke City debut, assisting a goal with an inch perfect free kick. One of the surprise transfers of the season will bring a different style of attack to the Potters and I predict he will continue where he left off.

TOTEVE

Tottenham vs Everton

A mixed start for both teams in the Premier League. Neither team really have an advantage on the other. Everton have a win to their name yet look stranded at times, while Spurs haven’t shown any signs of challenging for a Champions League place this season although it is still early doors.

STAR MAN – Romelu Lukaku

The striker looks revitalised so far. He has a total of 20 FPL points and against a Tottenham team who haven’t quite sorted out their back line, he is set to carry on his form.

SOUNOR

Southampton vs Norwich City

The Saints haven’t had a good start to the season but could capitalise on newly promoted Norwich. However, Alex Neil’s men have stood their ground so far with a draw and a win, as well as sitting a respectable 8th in the table. Their midfielders have put in good performances unlike Southampton and are also fresher coming into the game in comparison to a team who face a Europa League Qualifier on Thursday. Despite this, I still believe Koeman’s team has enough quality to overcome their opponents.

STAR MAN – Nathan Redmond

Already with two goals and an assist under his belt, Redmond will be key to Norwich this season and looks to be the source of nearly all of their goals.

SWAMUN

Swansea vs Manchester United

Whilst both teams are currently in the top 6 there seems to be a clear difference on the pitch. United have a solid defence, keeping clean sheets in all their games while not effectively attacking, whereas Swansea are proving to be prolific goalscorers. This should be a good match in a contrast of styles.

STAR MAN – Bafetimbi Gomis

If anyone is going to break Man United’s clean sheet run it is this man. He has shown good promise this season, but credit is due to the service he is getting from midfield. The only bad thing about him scoring would be having to see that celebration again.
