Gameweek 4 Review – Fantasy Premier League Tips

In gameweek 4, we saw some shocking results (unexpected would be an understatement!), but as the transfer deadline came closer we saw more new faces being added who are potential starters for your teams, like Kevin De Bruyne signing for City, someone who will probably be a star in the years to come. However, lets focus on this week first and see where the FPL points could have been found. With a low average of 37, expect a lot of differentials featuring in this week’s Fantasy Premier League dreamteam.

Dreamteam

Goalkeeper

Tim Howard – The blues goalkeeper had an impressive performance against Spurs to secure a clean sheet in the goalless draw. 6 saves and a man of the match performance saw the American leap into the number 1 spot this week, with 2 clean sheets already to his name. This will give him confidence going into the Chelsea game next gameweek where he will need to keep Costa at bay and produce a similar, if not better, performance than this week.

Defenders

Bacary Sagna – So far, City have had the perfect start with 4 wins and 4 clean sheets. This allows Sagna to gain maximum points and allows him to make his second consecutive appearance in the dream team. City have had a defender in the top 11 every week this season, with their record remaining flawless, and we reckon this trend is likely continue. Is it too early to suggest they’re the next invincibles?

Aaron Cresswell – West Ham stunned the whole of England after taking 3 points off both Arsenal and now Liverpool in convincing wins. A 3-0 scoreline saw Liverpool be humiliated at Anfield. Cresswell contributed with an assist and an additional clean sheet to add to his current 1 taking him to 12 points for this week alone. A contender for defender of the week and he will be hoping to take this exact form into the coming weeks of the season.

Jonas Olsson – The lowest scorer of this week goes to the West Brom defender as a 1-0 win against Stoke saw West brom grab their 2nd clean sheet of their season. 3 bonus points and 2 vital blocks saw the defender into the team of the week and he will hope to keep a clean sheet against the strong attacking force of Southampton next week to keep West Brom away from the bottom 3.

Gabriel – A 1-0 win over struggling Newcastle saw the young Arsenal full back gather a total of 9 points for the week, after Newcastle didn’t have many chances to trouble the Gunners back line. Wenger said he is happy with his back 4 as was proven by a lack of transfer window activity.

Midfielders

Dusan Tadic – An exceptional performance from Southampton meant a convincing 3-0 win against a newly promoted Norwich side who will be disappointed not to have put up more of a fight in a game that they had chances to. However, Tadic will be happy after netting twice in the game, and securing a man of the match performance to make him the highest scoring player this week!

Scott Sinclair – The English star found himself stuck on City’s bench all of last season but now he has a chance to shine and he isn’t letting it slip by as he makes a dream team appearance after a great performance against a Sunderland side who are yet to win this season. 2 goals will secure his position in the Villa side and will give him a huge confidence boost heading into the rest of the season.

Bakary Sako – Another shock result saw Palace outclass Chelsea in a 2-1 result with Sako contributing to both goals by assisting one and then finishing one off for himself. A second consecutive scoring week for the new signing will give Palace fans confidence for the rest of the season.

Andre Ayew – Swansea came out firing against a United side who are struggling to score so far this season, and with Gomis and Ayew banging in 2 goals, it was enough to secure all 3 points. Voted man of the match, Ayew thoroughly deserves the recognition he deserves with 3 goals and 1 assist to his name already this season, and this looks to only grow as his partnership with Gomis continues to develop.

Sadio Mane – Someone had to assist the 3 goals Southampton scored this weekend, and this was the man who delivered the goods! He isn’t known for his assists but he will be looking to change this heading into the rest of the season as he looks to beat last season’s tally of 4. 2 bonus points saw him move into the dream team making him the second out of 3 Southampton players to feature.

Forwards

Graziano Pelle – An assist and a goal is a good haul for the Italian as he aims to replicate the 12 goals from last season. A 10 man Norwich helped give Southampton such a convincing win but the Italian striker won’t mind the circumstances as long as he keeps finding himself on the score sheet. He is still quite expensive at £8m and will need to improve his finishing to find himself in more teams and perhaps in the Italian national team as the Euros come closer and closer.

Now we have the international break! A break every fan will be looking forward to after a shaky start to the season for most teams, apart from City who look to smash anything that gets put in front of them. So now is the time to make a change or perhaps use your wildcard to its full potential? Has the season gone as you expected so far? And how did you do? Let us know @FPL_Updates or ask for advice!
