Brighton have completed the signing of Romanian striker Florin Andone from Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna. The forward becomes Chris Hughton’s second summer signing after Leon Balogun was signed a few days beforehand.
The fee is believed to be around £5.5million for a player who scored 6 and set up 3 in 29 La Liga matches last season. Internationally, he has a single goal in 21 appearances which came against Italy in 2015.
Hughton had this to say about the transfer:
“He is a very hard-working player, and has proven his quality at the highest level in Spain, as well as at international level. I am looking forward to working with him next season.”
Fantasy Premier League Potential (5.0m)
With the amount of money Brighton have paid for Andone I fully expect him to be a pivotal player to their team. Glenn Murray isn’t getting any younger which is a good opportunity for the Romanian to make his mark in England.
He is more than likely going to put you back the amount Brighton paid, around £5.5m and he could prove to be a decent third striker option. I wouldn’t select him personally as his scoring record wasn’t too good last campaign, but he could be one to keep an eye on.
That said, in the 2016/17 he scored 12 in La Liga and picked up the player of the month award in December. His most prolific season came in the season before in the Spanish second division where he scored 21 goals in just 36 games for Cordoba.
