It was a solid week for the Updates XI with performances coming for all ends of the pitch. A captain return is always helpful. For once more players returned than blanked with only 3 blanking and those that did all returned 2 points.
The sides into the top 500k now with 545 points. Last weeks 2 transfers paid off big time with returns coming in straight away.
Heaton botched up his 5th blank in row but against Man City, I’ll take a 2 pointers. I started Lundstram for once and inevitably he conceded once to West Ham. Robertson conceded the fastest goal of the season against Spurs, so we were out of our misery early for his double pointer. Soyuncu kept a clean against 10 men Southampton who never looked like scoring. Mendy returned a solid 6 points against Villa with a clean sheet but was on for a 12 pointer till KDB’s goal was changed to Silva’s.
Salah finally returned with his first goal since GW5. He looked his usual self against Spurs, peppering the goal throughout. Mount continues to tick over as he picked up an assist at Turf Moor. The City boys (which is now a triple up) all brought home points. Sterling scored and bagged all bonus for a double digit haul. KDB got his 10th assist of the season. A full house in the midfield!
Maupay’s transfer paid off handsomely as he scored a penalty and brought home all 3 bonus points on his debut. Tammy Abraham made his first premier league assist for a 5 pointer.
Transfers: Saved. While I’d like Vardy, I’m happy with my current XI.
Heaton and Robertson face off at Villa Park and a 0-0 wouldn’t be a bad result. However, I see goals in this game which isn’t great news for these two. Lundstram has a home game against Burnley while Mendy faces Southampton at home who are coming off the back off a 9-0 loss. Zinchenko and Angelino are both out, so Mendy is nailed for once! Soyuncu travels to Palace which will be a tough test for high flying Leicester.
Salah travels away to Aston Villa who haven’t been tight at the back and I know that through Heaton’s lack of returns. I’m expecting goals here. Sterling and KDB have a plum home game against Southampton and the duo were rested midweek in the cup. Mount travels to Watford and he’s now owned by 37% of managers!
This is the game I bought Maupay in for but he’s already done the business. Norwich at home before 4 tough tough opponents means this is his last game in the side. Abraham has a short trip to Watford who have improved in recent weeks, only conceding once in 3 games.
Captain: Sterling. His rest and his opponents make my decision easy. However, after this week, I can’t see myself giving him the armband for a while.
