Gameweek 14 feels such a long time ago with the international break, although I’ve surprisingly enjoyed the weekend off. With 3 game days there was plenty of opportunity to score well last week, especially with the FNF fixture where many managers would have avoided. Things went to plan on Saturday with the popular teams of Leicester and Chelsea winning. Sunday also went to plan with all 3 games having 3 or more goals. There’s been a few knocks over and before the international break, so there may be a few transfers worth using this week.
There’s also been a shock manager change with Pochettino getting the boot. He’s been swiftly replaced by Jose Mourinho. This has made Tottenham players much more interesting and certainly one to monitor against West Ham.
Goalkeepers
It was another bleak week for keepers with just 4 clean sheets. Schmeichel’s Leicester side keep churning out the clean sheets. Pope got a long awaited double figure return as well as Foster who has hit a double figure return every other week for the past while.
Defenders
Newcastle’s Clark £6.7m hasn’t been keeping clean sheets but the Irishman has scored for 2 weeks running. The Newcastle defenders can’t stop scoring this week as Yedlin scored his first of the season as well as Sheffield United’s Baldick. It was 10 pointers all round for Leicester’s consistent duo, Pereira and Soyuncu. They’re fantasy gold!
Dunk scored his first of the season against Man Utd and he’s hit passing bonus for 3 weeks in a row. Tomori scored his second 10 pointer of the season with a clean sheet and Tier 2 passing. He’s got a tricky fixture next but after that is still a great time to buy. Sidibe £7.7m started his 4th game in a row for Everton and has made tackle bonus in 2 of them along with 2 CS. Although fixtures are tough after Norwich.
Midfielders
Watford’s Deulofeu scored and assisted on Friday night and a MOTM scored him a massive 14 points. He’s got decent fixtures to come and owned by under 4%. Pulisic seems to be worth his price tag after 3 double figure hauls in a row. After the Man City game I’d definitely consider getting him in. The American has hit 5 goals, 2 MOTM and Tier 2 SoT bonus in the last 3 weeks. Richarlison finally scored his third of the season. When he does score, he explodes and when he doesn’t he picks up 4 points most weeks. Maddison scores his 3rd goal in 5 weeks and was MOTM against Arsenal. McNeil £7.3m has been chipping away in recent weeks. He was MOTM against West Ham and assisted for an 8 pointer.
Traore £6.9m is a MOTM magnet. He picked up his 5th of the season (highest out of anyone) with an assist against Villa. Ndidi and Moutinho made their 6th tackle bonus this season while Doucoure and McCarthur made their 4th.
Forwards
Mr Consistent Vardy has scored at least once in 5 of his last 6 games. He’s now owned by 65% in the top 1k. Rashford scores his 6th of the seasons and he’s now returns 3 double figure scores in 4 weeks. Son £10.5m scored his first goal in 7 weeks. Salah and Mané have scored 13 goals between them and owning one is a no brainer after both scored this week against Man City. Martial £9.6m assisted twice vs Brighton and is a cheaper alternative to the United attack.
Captain conundrums
Saturday: There’s many options to choose from the 8 games, so it’s tough to single out 1. Arsenal have a great fixture against Southampton but aren’t in great form. Aubameyang would be the only one I’d consider. Leicester travel to Brighton and Vardy should be one you consider. This isn’t an easy fixture but a winnable one. Liverpool play their ‘bogey team’ Crystal Palace and Mané is the player I’d heavily consider. If Salah’s fit he’s a great choice but if he misses out it could hinder Mané’s chances of a big haul. Man City and Chelsea is the last game on Saturday and I think I’ll be avoiding it for captaincy.
Sunday: I’m assuming Sheffield Utd vs Man Utd won’t be a high scoring affair. If you don’t own anyone in this game I wouldn’t be too worried. The former have been extremely strong at the back and it’s a good time to bring a defender in if you were looking at bringing one in even though it may not bring a big score in initially. It’s a shame Henderson is ineligible for this game as he’d be a good budget option. AWB is a very safe bet for this game. Rashford and Martial would be the 2 prime picks if I could have anyone.
Monday: Aston Villa vs Newcastle has a few options to choose from but I wouldn’t bring any player in either unless you want them for the long run. The highest scoring midfielder McGinn would be my pick. This game is perfect for Guilbert owners. He kept a CS in his last single game day. It’s worth keeping in mind Villa’s fixtures are tricky after this game.
