After a short break from Premier League action, we are back too it. The deadline is as always, fast approaching, but before we look at this weeks captaincy picks, here’s a breakdown of how last weeks picks did:

Fingers crossed for even better returns this week, here’s our top picks for the up coming gameweek:
1. Jamie Vardy (SOU)
We were all left pretty distraught when we saw that Vardy wasn’t even named in Leicester’s squad last week! He came back for the game against Aston Villa after a well deserved rest, and will return in the league for the game against Southampton, who have come into a bit of form recently, but I still think Vardy is the best one to consider for captaincy this week – he’s still the league’s top scorer with 17 goals, and also is the leading points scorer with 144 points in FPL, so despite the blanks these last few weeks, he’s certainly the best bet for captaincy this week!
2. Kevin De Bruyne (AVL)
While Vardy may be number one in points scored, De Bruyne is only just narrowly behind him with 141 points. His blank against Everton ended a run of four consecutive games with assists for De Bruyne, and is on track of beating Henry’s assist record! He’s undeniably been the best player this year, so it’s difficult to write something new about him, he’s work class on his day, and should add to his tally against Aston Villa, a team who have only kept one clean sheet since the end of November.
3. Saido Mane (TOT)
Would you believe me if I said that Mane has only blanked twice since GW9 – and in one of those games it was because he was rested for 90 minutes! While De Bruyne has been sensational all year, I’d argue that Mane has been as good as him, having 19 goal contributions this year, an unbelievable record for a winger! Don’t be out off by the opposition this week neither – Spurs have amazingly kept only one clean sheet since GW6, Mourinho hasn’t been as good defensively as he has been in recent years!
Differential – Gerard Deulofeu (BOU)
It feels like the differential option alternates every week between Deulofeu and Calvert-Lewin! I think Deulofeu though has good potential to be a big differential this week – they take on a Bournemouth side that managed to concede 4 goals to David Moyes’ West Ham, two of which being by Mark Noble, proving that Deulofeu could have a field day! He’s only owned by 2% of FPL managers, and if he continues his form under their new manager, then he could certainly get a few this weekend!
Gamble – Richalison (BHA)
I’d love to have been a fly on the wall after their embarrassing defeat to Liverpool last week. Richarlison looked tired, but had an alright game compared to the others, particularly the midfield. One things for certain, Ancelotti has a very tough task in his hands. Richarlison (and Everton in general) has been in poor form, so it may be risky captaining him, but he was magnificent last year when the sides faced, scoring a brace. If he replicates that form, he’ll be unstoppable, but it’s a huge risk after Everton’s, quite frankly, pathetic week.
