There were some big games in Gameweek 7 and certainly some monster scores. FNF included 4 goals while Man City’s 8-0 win had some huge scores including 3 in the top 5 of the week.
Goalkeepers
6 clean sheets were kept this week including 4 hitting double figures. Fabianski £6.7m is proving to be great value hitting double digits for the third week running and is currently top scorer in his position. 14 keepers hit save bonus, 3 of which reached Tier 2.
Defenders
Otamendi continues his streak of returning every time he starts with a mega 14 pointer against Watford. He didn’t return any bonus points but his goal and clean sheet equalled him with Cresswell who produced the same output against Man United. Pereira hit his second double digit haul of the season and is one of the best value at the back. The Leicester defender is owned by less than 7% of players and has a number of single game days.
TAA and Chambers also got on the scoresheet this week and the former has been very consistent all season along with teammate, Robertson, who is yet to score less than 4 points. 3 of Brighton’s centre backs hit Tier 2 passing bonus including Burn £4.6m who’s a bargain. 8 players made Tier 1 tackle bonus including Tomori £6.4m who looks nailed in the Chelsea defence. 2 reached Tier 2 including Otto £7.7m who made 7 successful tackles!
Midfielders
Man City trio Bernardo Silva, KDB and Mahrez were the top 3 scorers in the midfield. The Portuguese midfielder hit 22 points and he took home the match ball. KDB looks a must own with his added security of starts. McGinn continues to tick over and his MOTM performance and goal at the Emirates saw him hit double figures for the second time this season. Maddison received his second MOTM this season against Spurs and is priced very kindly but picked up a knock and may miss his single game day which is a huge blow for owners. Pepe got off the mark in Premier League after converting a penalty but it’s unlikely he’s Arsenal first pen taker.
9 players each made passing and tackling bonus. KDB just narrowly missed out on passing but David Silva and Rodri both hit Tier 2. The latter is proving to be a bonus magnet as he hit tackle and passing bonus for the 3rd week in a row. Romeu got tackling bonus for the 3rd time this season but there weren’t many standouts this week.
Forwards
It was a quiet week up front in comparison to the past 5 as only 3 players scored more than 9 points. Chris Wood was the standout player as he was the only player to score more than once as he got off the mark for the season. Aguero’s blistering form continues but I’m sure owners will be disappointed that he didn’t score more as he spurned plenty of great chances. Kane scores his 4th of the season but he hasn’t been explosive since gameweek 1. Wilson and Aubameyang’s form continues as they’ve only failed to bring home points on 2 occasions even though the former got a large slice of luck. It was a tough week for the budget forwards but the likes of Chelsea, Burnley and Norwich still have good fixtures to come.
Captain Conundrums
Saturday: Liverpool take the early kick off and provide the obvious safe choice. Mané is a slight risk after he picked up a knock against Chelsea but should be fit. Kane against Southampton is a good bet along with Man City. The only issue is Pep and those who gave Sterling the armband last week came home with 0 points.
Sunday: Leicester players look the obvious choice with a second single day to come. Maddison looks great value but if you don’t own him he may miss the game through injury. The 2 defenders Soyuncu and Pereira provide good long term picks. Vardy is always an option for the short and medium term.
Monday: MNF provides 2 top 6 clubs who are in the Europa league and will constantly have single game days. Aubameyang is the standout option in this game and is highly owned. Pepe is another option to save some money. On the United front Pogba looks to be back but wouldn’t be as easy to trust in comparison to the Arsenal forward. IMO owning someone in this game is a must.
