With just a days break, the Premier League is back and more importantly, Fantasy Football is back! The deadline is as always, fast approaching, but before we look at this weeks captaincy picks, here’s a breakdown of how last weeks picks did:
1. Mohamed Salah – 16 points
2. Sergio Aguero – 4 points
3. Raul Jimenez – 8 points
Differential – Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 5 points
Gamble – Robert Snodgrass – 3 points
Fingers crossed for even better returns this week, here’s our top picks for the up coming gameweek:
1. Mohamed Salah (SOU)
Only one person for number one this week, and it’s got to be Salah! His goal and assist last week took his goal’s return tally to 18 for the season, a decent record for someone who is apparently not having that good of a season! With Mane our for the next few weeks, and with Liverpool eager to try and remain unbeaten, they’ll need this man to perform this week, and if he continues his recent form, he certainly will end up on the scoresheet at some point!
2. Dominic Calvert-Lewin (WAT)
Like a proud father, I feel happy that I owned DCL when only 0.5% of FPL managers owned him a few months back! He’s been brilliant all season, and his goal against Newcastle last week took his tally to 10, a brilliant record for someone who was only £5.5m at the start of the season! Everton have a tricky fixture coming up against Watford, who’s defence has seemingly seemingly rejuvenated under Pearson, but with Everton coming into good form themselves under Ancelotti, and in the form DCL has been in, I wouldn’t be surprised if he does end up adding to his goal tally this weekend!
3. Heung-Min Son (MCI)
Don’t think I have ever owned a more frustrating player before in FPL! He either scores a brace or gets sent off, no inbetween! Last week he grabbed a goal against Norwich, but this week may be a tougher task, as Spurs take on a Man City side that almost have resigned to the fact that they have lost the league this season. Spurs do have a relatively good goal scoring record against Man City, so I’m hoping for goals aplenty in this week’s game, with hopefully Son getting in on the action!
Differential – Harvey Barnes (CHE)
Understandably there may be one or two people who’ll read this and wonder “Who?”, but let me tell you, I’m a big fan of this lad! I think he’s got bags of potential, and he’s certainly flourishing this season, with 7 assists for the season, despite playing only 1300 minutes altogether this season. Leicester have been terrific all season in front of goal, and if Barnes can keep his form going into their game against Chelsea, I think he prove to be a terrific differential!
Gamble – Sergio Aguero (TOT)
I very rarely recommend two players from one match in the article, but I’ve made an exception for this week as seemingly every good side is facing each other! Aguero is, in my opinion, more of a gamble than Son purely because he’s a rotation risk, as we seen last week when Jesus started ahead of him. Although Aguero scores, it’s less likely that he’ll score every week if he doesn’t start consistently, and while I do think he’ll start against Spurs, I don’t think he’ll play the full 90, despite his brilliant form recently!
