Gameweek 12 saw a 3rd green arrow in a row. 72 points and now I’m inside the top 300k. Progress is being steadily made. With a wildcard still to use I’ve got scope to have a punt now and then. We’ve a big Sunday coming up with a top of the league clash will have big representation for most manager.
Heaton was the only man to blank in defence. He nearly kept Liverpool out until a late double from The Reds ended up being a 2 pointer. Soyuncu and Lundstram were this week’s heroes. The Leicester man scored his first Leicester goal with a clean sheet. Lundstram braced and his side also kept a clean sheet for a massive 21 points. The two combined for 35 points (49% of this week’s points.) Robertson scored his first goal of the season meaning our defence scored 4 goals between them!
The midfield really let me down this week. Man City mids have been frustrating picks so far. Sterling blanked and was booked for diving meaning I captained my lowest scoring player. KDB was quiet with 2 points in their 2-1 win. Salah also blanked after coming off early against Villa. Mount scored a single point after being booked and he picked up a knock in the Champions League. He did go very close to scoring twice. McGinn came off the bench for Mendy who ended up being rotated. He assisted for the second time this season.
Maupay blanked against Norwich and had plenty of chances to score. He failed to score from 6 yards and he goes out of the team on a low. Abraham was back to scoring way with a goal and assist agains Watford.
Transfers: Maupay/Salah -> Vardy/Martial
It wasn’t easy selling Salah but I’m looking at bringing Mané soon. It’s been hard to ignore Vardy’s form so I’ve finally managed to rectify that. Martial comes back in after his injury and I believe he provides great value when he’s starting OOP.
Heaton, Rico and Lundstram all have away ties. The latter starts over Mendy due to his goal threat. Rico travels to Newcastle but I won’t be surprised to see them finally concede the week I start him. Robertson plays Man City in a crucial home game. This is Liverpool’s last ‘big six’ opponent till GW22.
McGinn travels to Wolves and he’s off the bench after a few weeks on the splinters. KDB and Sterling are up against The Reds and they have just 2 shutouts this season. Mount starts against Palace and I’m hoping for him to up his output as Pulisic has been performing much better since he’s started under Lampard. He’s facing a late fitness test, so the bench may be required. Martial’s looked impressive midweek in Europe and apart from his miss pen against Norwich looked good in that too. He’s at home Brighton and United’s fixtures are kind for a while. I’m just hoping he stays fit and United improve.
Abraham is just a goal behind Vardy and Palace are yet to keep a clean sheet away from home. Vardy’s eventually made his way into the side. His opponent is Arsenal who are nowhere near playing to their potential under Emery.
Captain: Vardy. With City and Liverpool playing each other, it was a tougher choice but the infirm Fox is this week’s captain.
