Fantasy Football Potential – Joe Hart

Burnley signed goalkeeper Joe Hart from Manchester City for a fee believed to be around £3.5 million. The England international has signed for Burnley on a two year deal as both Nick Pope and Tom Heaton have picked up injuries.

At 31, Joe Hart has significant international experience, with 27 caps at youth levels and 75 caps for the senior England side. For around 4 years, Hart was the England number one, however he has fallen out of favour as he has lacked game time at Manchester City, whilst not being overly impressive at Torino or West Ham.

Here’s what Hart has had to say about his move to the Premier League side:

“I’ve heard such good things about the atmosphere. They say it’s priceless but to be part of a team where everyone is pushing in the same direction is not as normal as you would expect it to be.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (4.5m)

Hart has spent the majority of his career at Manchester City, whilst playing 266 league games for City, he also went out on loan on 5 occasions to Tranmere Rovers, Blackpool, Birmingham City, Torino and West Ham. In his time at Man City, Joe Hart managed to win the Golden Glove four times in the space of five seasons, winning three in a row.

Pep Guardiola became manager in 2016 and since then, Joe Hart only made one appearance for Man Ctiy. Now at Burnley, Hart has the chance to revive his career at club level and internationally. Already Hart has kept back to back clean sheets, in the Europa League and Premier League, against Istanbul Basaksehir and Southampton. With Hart priced at £4.5m, he could be a great rotational keeper, especially with Burnley’s somewhat water tight defence. Last season The Clarets were especially impressive at home, recording 7 clean sheets and only conceding 19 goals at Turf Moor.

Burnley’s next five games are as follows; Watford (H), Fulham (A), Manchester United (H), Wolves (A) and Bournemouth (H). The only real tough fixture is in gameweek 4 and if Hart can rediscover his form that he had that won him 4 golden gloves, then he could be a brilliant fantasy option.
