Gameweek 2 FPL Preview – Fantasy Premier League Tips

The first round of fixtures did not disappoint and proved how unpredictable the Premier League can be. With the first gameweek wrapped up, we now must set ourselves for the second gameweek which follows and who knows what it’s got in store for us. Take a look at our brief insight on how each game could pan out, with our star picks to go with it.

Best of luck and may your arrows be green!

Swansea vs Manchester United

Manchester United were rampant in the opening game of the season and as a result, they sit at the top of the pile after gameweek 1. With gameweek 2 on the horizon, Jose & his boys travel to Wales to the Liberty Stadium with nothing but a win in mind & with the firepower they possess upfront, we won’t we surprised to see another dominating display.

STAR MAN: Henrikh Mkhitaryan (8.0m)

The Armenian has been in top notch form, since pre season & he has definitely carried that form into the new Premier League season. He is the creator in chief of that United midfield, so get him when he’s cheap.

PREDICTION: Swansea 0-2 Manchester United

Bournemouth vs Watford

Bournemouth come into this game after a disappointing one goal defeat at the hands of the Baggies & will surely be looking to make a point in front of the home crowd. Watford on the other hand were a surprise package last time around having played out a 3 goal aside draw against the mighty Liverpool. This fixture surely promises goals as 2 explosive sides go head to head in a fixture where both sides will be looking to make a statement.

STAR MAN: Andre Gray (6.5m)

The Englishman looks all set to start for the Hornets & show his new fans what he is made of.

PREDICTION: Bournemouth 2-2 Watford

Burnley vs West Brom

Both the Clarets & the Baggies have had a great start to the season with both sides bagging a win in their opening fixture. Burnley thumped the champions Chelsea in a surprising game at the Bridge & the Baggies sneaked a close win at the Hawthorns. Both of these sides will be looking to build on their opening day results  with the home form the Clarets are used to possessing, this could prove to be a tough one for Pulis’ side.

STAR MAN: Sam Vokes (6.0m)

Burnley’s no. 9 single handedly ransacked the Blues of London at the Bridge & if he’s delivered the chances, he could be a menace to deal with.

PREDICTION: Burnley 2-0 West Brom

Leicester vs Brighton

The Foxes have started the season on a decent note with a very strong display at the Emirates, which they could have gone on to win. Nevertheless, Shakespeare & his men will surely be looking to bounce back, and this time the fans will be expecting nothing less than the 3 points.

STAR MAN: Jamie Vardy (8.6m)

Jamie Vardy is surely having a party.

PREDICTION: Leicester 3-0 Brighton

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

Klopp & his men will have been disappointed to take home just the 1 point on the opening day, all courtesy to a late, late Britos equaliser. On the other hand, the Eagles had a humiliating opening day having been demolished by a newly promoted Huddersfield side. Both sides will be eager to bounce back but with the Eagles most likely missing their main man Zaha & the home support behind the Reds, Liverpool seem to be edging the tie.

STAR MAN: Mohamed Salah (9.1m)

A goal & an assist on his Premier League return. He will be raring to prove his doubters wrong.

PREDICTION: Liverpool 3-1 Crystal Palace

Southampton vs West Ham

Week one was kind of contrasting for both these teams wherein the Saints came out with a point after a rather solid defensive performance against the Swans and the Hammers on the other hand were thrashed 4-0 by Jose’s United and played very poorly. As quoted by their manager Bilic, it was hard to find any positives from that performance. They will be looking to turn their fortunes around this time around.

STAR MAN: Dusan Tadic (6.5m)

He was the most influential midfielder for the Saints in the last game and is sure to be involved if Southampton were to score.

PREDICTION: Southampton 1-1 West Ham

Stoke vs Arsenal

Stoke City suffered an away defeat last time around at the hands of an impressive Everton team. After losing their best player from last season, Stoke certainly do look a bit depleted in attack and hence might find it difficult to outscore their opponents who came back to win 4-3 on the opening fixture of the season. With the goalscoring form the Gunners are in, it will be difficult for the Potters to get all three points from this game.

STAR MAN: Alexandre Lacazette (10.5m)

His movement and mobility will certainly help him evade the Stoke defence and create openings in attack.

PREDICTION: Stoke 1-3 Arsenal

Huddersfield vs Newcastle

Huddersfield playing in the Premier League for the first time resulted in a rather surprising and unexpected away win after scoring three against Palace. They are up against a Newcastle side who will be looking to get back into winning ways after their defeat at the hands of Spurs. Just have a feeling that Rafa’s men might just be able to clinch the victory and get the three points here.

STAR MAN: Christian Atsu (5.0m)

A bargain buy and electric on the counter, this man’s pace might be key to breaking down the Huddersfield defence.

PREDICTION: Huddersfield 1-2 Newcastle

Tottenham vs Chelsea

Woah! A London derby in week two. Spurs had a decent away victory with a two goal margin on the opening weekend and are up against a Chelsea team who were shock losers at the hands of Burnley at Stamford Bridge after two red cards. With a depleted midfield, the Blues might find it very difficult to break down the Spurs rigid defence. Tottenham on the other hand can exploit the gaps in midfield and it certainly looks like the result will be in their favour.

STAR MAN: Dele Alli (9.5m)

After scoring one in the opening fixture he will be keen on making an impact against the defending champions.

PREDICTION: Tottenham 3-1 Chelsea

Manchester City vs Everton

Manchester City were comfortable winners last time around up against Brighton. They sure did squander a few chances but put in a decent display all round. On the other hand Everton had a solid defensive performance but were certainly shy in front of goal. Both teams will be looking to win this game and stamp their authority on the start of the season but Guardiola’s men certainly do hold the upper hand with their attacking prowess.

STAR MAN: Kevin De Bruyne (10.0m)

After missing out on contributing to the goals in the last game, he will be looking to make amends and stake his claim in the Manchester City midfield.

PREDICTION: Manchester City 3-2 Everton
