Fantasy Football Potential – Joe Hart

West Ham United completed the signing of England’s number one, Joe Hart, on loan from Manchester City. He joins his former team mate Pablo Zabaleta and adds to a very impressive list of players recruited by the Hammers. He has been a mainstay in the premier league with a total of 302 appearances to his name with an impressive 119 clean sheets, along with his 2 Premier league titles. He spent last season on loan in Italy and now has been given a chance again to show what a world class goalkeeper he truly is, potentially providing his doubters wrong on why he is England’s number one.

On Joining West Ham, Joe Hart was quoted saying:

“It’s important for me to play football and to get the opportunity to come here and play is absolutely awesome. To be playing in the Premier League for a big club like West Ham, I’m really looking forward to the season .I’ve always loved the Club. I think you’ll struggle to find anyone, apart from the direct opposing fans around London, who doesn’t love the Club. It’s got something about it, it’s got a lot history and I’ve always loved playing against West Ham.”

Fantasy Football Potential

Joe Hart, a name which is far too familiar to the Premier League and FPL managers as he has been a mainstay in the league and has consistently performed each season. He has amassed a very impressive 302 Premier League appearances to him name with 119 clean sheets. He has been the recipient of 4 Golden Gloves which is a record he holds with Petr Cech of Arsenal. He won the Golden Glove each time during Manchester City’s title triumphs which is why he is considered by some as one of the best in the League.

He joins a West Ham team in dire need of a leader and experienced campaigner who can marshal up the defense and propel the team higher up the table. He will have defensive protection from the likes of Reid, Fonte and Collins who are quite experienced themselves. Joe hart has built up a reputation over the years of being one of the best shot stoppers in the league and will be on his absolute best to prove his critics wrong and establish himself again.

He has been priced at 4.5m in Fantasy Premier League which is a bargain, which is also shown by his current 10.3% ownership by FPL managers. He will be the first choice goalkeeper for the Hammers. Barring the 1st game, which is against Manchester United at Old Trafford, the hammers have a pretty easy fixture list in the next three gameweeks, with two of them being against the new boys (Newcastle and Huddersfield) which could yield clean sheets and save points. West Ham conceded 48 goals last season, so if the Hammers will be conceding less than this, Joe Hart will be making a lot of saves, increasing those fantasy points and potential bonus points.

That being said, Joe Hart faces a make or break season which will decide his present as well as future. He has lost out on 1 year of his goalkeeping career in the wilderness of Torino, a lowly mid-table club in Serie A which for a goalkeeper like Hart would have been a disappointment. He has been given the chance again to prove his worth and show that he is still the best. Joe hart can be one of the signings of the summer for the hammers as well as FPL Bosses, with him determined and motivated to show his worth. Joe Hart has always averaged 90 saves per season with an average of 13 clean sheets in an illustrious 9 year span in the premier league.
