Captaincy Analysis – Game-week 2

Well what a start that was to the season! If you managed to pick a captain who made it into double points, congratulations, as there wasn’t many. Anyway, with game-week 1 out of the way, I’m sure you are all itching for game-week 2 to start.

Firstly, last weeks picks weren’t too bad considering some of the results, but here’s how they did:
Pick 1 – Wayne Rooney – 7 points
Pick 2 – Alexis Sanchez – 5 points
The Differential – Ashley Young – 1 point
The Gamble – Diego Costa – 6 points

So, who are we going to captain this game week?

1. Diego Costa (LEI)

Costa and Chelsea started the 2014/2015 season with an extremely impressive performance against Burnley. Yes, you may say ‘it was only Burnley’, but either way it was a great start to the campaign, and it allowed Diego Costa to score on his Premier League début. We are backing him to continue this form and be a menace to Leicester’s back four.

2. Wayne Rooney (SUN)

With a loss against Swansea, we are sure Louis van Gaal will want to bounce back with a win. There is also the prospect of Robin van Persie returning from injury, which would see the return of the partnership that was once so deadly.

Differential – Gylfi Sigurdsson (BUR)

The Icelandic play-maker had a stunning pre-season and has carried his form into the start of the 2014/2015 season with a goal and an assist against Manchester United, in Swansea’s game-week one 2-1 win. Swansea now have Burnley to face, which could see Sigurdsson rack up more points, and although he did so well last game week, we doubt many will give him the armband – are you brave enough?

Gamble – Raheem Sterling (MCI)

Sterling has shown he can perform on a high level, but whether or not he can bring in the big points that he does against the likes of Manchester City, is uncertain. With a goal and an assist against Southampton, the youngster has started off the campaign in a bright way, but captaining him against Manchester City can be seen as a bit of a gamble, but could pay huge dividends if it pays off.
