Game-week 2 Preview

With game-week 1 over in a flash, we are all now looking forward to game-week 2. With some people already panicking and looking to their wildcard, here is what we think the game-week will have in-store.VS

Aston Villa vs Newcastle

With Aston Villa opening the season with a win, they will want to continue the momentum and will have the chance to do this at home to Newcastle. However, although Newcastle lost their opener against Manchester City, they did put in a good performance and some of their players shone.

STAR MAN – Remy CABELLA

Newcastle’s new signing from Montpellier for £7 million, the 24 year old showed lots of flair and promise in his début.

VSChelsea vs Leicester

With an impressive opening game win against Burnley, Chelsea will be playing their first home game against Leicester. With the form that Chelsea showed against Burnley, it is hard to see past anything but a Chelsea win. However, Leicester will want to spoil the party after putting in a good performance and earning a draw against Roberto Martinez’s highly rated Everton side in game-week one.

STAR MAN – Diego COSTA

The new signing opened his account on Monday with the opening goal against Burnley, and we expect him to increase his goal tally at Stamford Bridge, making his home debut in the Premier League.

VSCrystal Palace vs West Ham

After losses for both teams in their opening games, they will both be raring to go to try and get their first win on the board. Last season Crystal Palace done the double against West Ham with two 1-0 wins, and will fancy to do the same again here.

STAR MAN – Brede HANGELAND

The Norwegian had nearly a perfect début for Crystal Palace after scoring the opener at the Emirates. However, two goals from Koscielny and Ramsey spoilt the party. The centre-back will be a key man and help Palace to try and keep those goals out, possibly putting a few more in the opposite goal too.

VSSouthampton vs West Bromwich Albion

Most thought that it was an inevitable conclusion that Southampton would lose to Liverpool. However, the Saints were only narrowly beaten and looked impressive. On the other hand, West Brom were held at home against Sunderland after two goals from Berahino for the Baggies. This could be one of the more open games, and we expect a few goals.

STAR MAN – Dusan TADIC

The Saints new signing from FC Twente for £10.9 million showed bags of class and promise in his first game agaist Liverpool after he created one goal, and we expect more of the same.

VSSwansea vs Burnley

With Swansea’s rapid start to the 2014/2015 season, beating Manchester United 2-1, there could be more of the same when they face one of the favourites to be relegated – Burnley. However, although the Clarets lost 3-1 to Chelsea they certainly weren’t rolled over and they held their own. Watch this one as they could cause an upset here.

STAR MAN – Gylfi SIGURDSSON

With a goal and an assist against Manchester United, a good pre-season under his belt and a price of just 6.2m, you can’t go wrong. Be sure to expect more of the same.

aaaaaEverton vs Arsenal

With Arsenal struggling against Crystal Palace and Everton being held by Leicester, both teams will want to set the score straight with convincing wins here.

STAR MAN – Aaron RAMSEY

After what was a stunning 2013/2014 season, Ramsey doesn’t look like slowing down with that form, bagging the winner at the Emirates in game-week 1. This sort of form is hard to ignore and we are backing him to have another impressive game.

VSHull vs Stoke

In their first games, Hull managed to bag a narrow 1-0 win against QPR, whilst Stoke narrowly lost 1-0 to Aston Villa. This game looks like it could lack goals and be a tight affair.

STAR MAN – Marko ARNAUTOVIC

If we are going to see goals in this game, the Austrian might well be our best chance, with 10 assists and 4 goals in the 2013/2014 season.

VSTottenham vs QPR

With Spurs scraping a win with a 93rd minute winner and QPR narrowly missing out on a win, this could be an interesting affair. Tottenham will want to prove their class, whereas QPR will want to show that they are not a team that will just be rolled over.

STAR MAN – Emmanuel ADEBAYOR

The centre-forward managed an unflattering 83 minutes against West Ham, however he will want to stake his place in the team in-front of Soldado. Therefore, the striker will be looking to impress, and hopefully hit the back of the net.

Untitled-1Sunderland vs Manchester United

After losing their opener, Manchester United and Louis van Gaal will want to prove the doubters wrong. However, Sunderland will want to grab a win against the Red Devils after they beat them at Old Trafford last season.

STAR MAN – Wayne ROONEY

After the new Manchester United captain scored the leveller in their 2-1 defeat to Swansea, we expect him to play a vital role in this match, especially if Robin van Persie makes his comeback as they may show signs of their lethal front-duo form.

VSManchester City vs Liverpool

With wins for both teams in their opening-game week, this game is probably the most mouthwatering game of the weekend. Unfortunately for us, we have to all wait until Monday night to see it!

STAR MAN – Raheem STERLING

The youngster doesn’t seem to be fazed by anything, and why would playing the champions faze him either? He picked up the man of the match award last time out against Southampton and after scoring against City at Anfield and being incorrectly ruled offside for his goal at the Etihad last season, he will fancy his chances to perform once again against City.
